All good for us. It is hilly in some parts very steep but although no issue for us may be for some. Great parks. Many bars, restaurants and cafes nearly all with outside tables (we were lucky with great weather) The open top bus is well worth £16 for an all day ticket. Edinburgh and it's people is one of the most beautiful places you could visit. Start planning your trip a year in advance and start determining when you want to go. Then start reserving rooms using Booking.com. Allow days for your trip to grow. What may start out as two weeks will quickly become three weeks. Three weeks is a good length. Airfare is important, mainly aircraft comfort. Don't fly in the cheap seats or your legs won't work when you get to Scotland. Packing to go, first get out what you think you need. Now put half of it back, you don't need it. Now with what you have left, put half of that back. Now you have what you will actually wear. We had not visited previously - plenty to do and we would recommend taking one of the hop on/hop off tour buses to get the feel of the city and then to explore. Plenty of 'free' stuff e.g. galleries, museums, Scottish Government buildings. Plenty of viewpoints e.g. Calton Hill and Arthur's Seat.
