Our room was amazing, there was a door that led straight outside so you could sit and have morning coffee in the fresh air, looking out onto the woodland in front. The room itself was very big and comfortable. I also like that we had a bathtub. The staff that we met were all very nice. Importantly for us , it is easily reachable by public transport: the number 3 bus goes from Princes Street, over South Bridge, and stops right in front of the property. You can buy a day ticket on the buses in Edinburgh for £5, and this hotel is within that central zone covered by the day pass. Buses go every ten minutes or so during the day, and every half hour later in the evening. About 1km away (in the garden centre) is also a small Waitrose with cafe, which is easily walkable. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fantastic: the food was lovely and the staff were very kind. The bar is also very cozy. We stayed in Dalmahoy just before this and that had a much more country club atmosphere, but this really felt like we were staying in a Scottish Castle: the decor is very dramatic and historic. We loved it.

The room was great overall! It had a good size and was very clean. The bathroom was the best part however (spacious with big shower). The room had a private garden, but it was cold and rainy during our stay, so unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it. There was an electric kettle, coffee/tea provided, hairdryer. The hotel has a great location and is around 40 min on foot/ 20 min with the bus from the old town. Many small shops and cafes in the areas as well. The cleaning lady was very kind.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Edinburgh is simply stunning – the combination of historic architecture, green hills, and the peaceful canal views creates a unique charm. If you want to see nature at its best, visit Edinburgh at least once. The city has a soul that's hard to describe – you have to experience it.

Edinburgh is delightful.

Edinburgh is delightful. There is always a bathroom close by that is clean. That is important to travelers. The Scot’s are friendly. It is easy to get around the city or do a day trip outside of it. There are lots ofof museums, gardens, castles, And shopping. The airport is easy to get to and the tram is convenient. Edinburgh is one is my favorite cities to visit. Holyrood Castle and the Royal Yacht are must sees. The National Gallery has s great art collection. The botanical gardens are lovely.

Edinburgh is becoming even more Disney-esque, or should that be Potter-eque. That's an observation, not a criticism. I do very much like it, albeit on this occasion I didn't have the chance to get my Scottish Ying in Glasgow from Edinburgh's so very different, Yang.

This was a return stay for us as we stayed in 2024. This is a fantastic hotel set in a secure area within walking distance of the city centre. 30 minutes gets you to the royal mile at a leisurely pace. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to get the room which would suit us best. We were in room 104 and thanks to the American lady in front desk for her assistance in choosing an airy room. The hotel also had passes for the nearby gym which was excellent. All in all a great stay.

The location is perfect when you want to explore the city centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast is a buffet where you can find croissants, muffins, all different types of drinks, eggs, bacon and sausages, to summarize a full breakfast. They do vegetarian options as well. The staff was very helpful. If you drive to the hotel, there is a parking nearby. There was a daily discount offered by the hotel. I definitely recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Royal Mile Hotel.

A modern hotel conveniently placed in central Edinburgh. Castle and main tourist sites were all within an easy 15 minute walk. Room was well maintained and spacious, if a little bland. Hotel was very quiet. Large car park (£10 a day) is fairly priced and very convenient if driving into the city. Hotel was fairly priced for the city centre and well run. A good, safe, bet if choosing for a city break or business trip.

Everything - beautiful hotel and grounds, clean, spacious rooms, lovely helpful staff, amazing dinner at main restaurant :D Honestly loved it! Have agreed with my partner we're staying there every time we visit Edinburgh - outside city but still cheaper and better value for money for room here and parking or taxi into city centre than staying more centrally. Couldn't recommend it more! Love, love, love it <3
