Eagle's Roost offers traditional (hosted in my home), carbon negative, non-smoking, holiday accommodation - affordable luxury in secluded, beautiful surroundings. With stunning views, an acre of landscaped garden, walking trails through 12 acres of private forest reserve & just a 5 short minute drive to Rocky Cape National Park and nearby stunning beaches - this is your perfect holiday home base in NW Tasmania. Eagle's Roost has resident Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Wallabies, Echidnas and a large number of bird species including the threatened Tasmanian Wedge-tail Eagle. The motion activated trail cameras can be used to capture nocturnal videos of wildlife - a unique holiday momento. A large vegetable & berry patch, orchard, Dorothy the Jersey cow & the Light Sussex hens provide seasonal fresh produce for your breakfasts. There is a varied breakfast menu including Full Cooked breakfast, Eggs Benedict, French Toast, quinoa, pancakes, fresh fruit, home made Greek yogurt, toast & home made jams. Gluten free & vegetarian options are available on request. Guests are also very welcome to pick their own fresh farm produce to use if preparing their own meals in the shared kitchen.
I'm a retired zoologist who's into bushwalking, gardening, cooking, photography and sustainable living. I very much enjoy having house guests and get a kick out of helping them enjoy their time in the amazing North West of Tasmania. I like to keep the biscuit jar filled with goodies for morning or afternoon teas and am only too happy to help folks get to know the animals on the property (both domesticated and the wildlife!)
Eagle's Roost is up on a ridge next to the SW corner of Rocky Cape National Park in North West Tasmania. The property looks out across farmland to Sawyer's Bay, Stanley and the "Nut". Firebreak trails through the private forest make for excellent bushwalking, birdwatching, wildflower or fungi photography. To date over 330 species of fungi have been identified on the property! Rocky Cape Road House and Rocky Cape Tavern are within walking distance for quick meals, a relaxing drink or picking up that forgotten item. If you're after a special evening meal, excellent restaurants are only 30 minutes away at Stanley or Boat Harbour, or you might choose to forage for local produce to couple with a Tasmanian wine or two & have supper on the back porch. The Rocky Cape National Park walk trails, the Tarkine Drive and all its stunning attractions (including Trowutta Arch, Milkshakes Reserve, Lake Chisholm sinkhole etc), Dip Falls, historic Stanley, Arthur River/Marrawah and the wild West Coast are easy local day trips. Eagle's Roost has something special to offer you, whether you're after a bit of an adventure or a relaxing respite from your busy life.
