Welcome to our Hacienda at Cooya Beach. It’s an open, pavilion style house set in lush tropical gardens with huge verandah joining the living area with outside dining, pool and separate 2 bedroom villa. It's a home that gets everyone saying "wow". We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. It's incredibly spacious with all but one bedroom opening onto the huge verandah that also wraps around the swimming pool. There's one bedroom in the front (main house), and two in a separate pavilion. Our kids and their spouses love the privacy and spaciousness and the bathroom looking out to the back garden. The house is solid with concrete floors, so guests can get up early, make a cuppa etc without waking others. The pool and veranda are very private. 3 bedrooms (2 Queen 1 King + cot and 1 x rollaway). Suits up to 3 couples, travellers, and families. Cot & high chair. Unspoilt and uncrowded, Cooya Beach is 10 min north bustling Port Douglas. Cooya Beach is a 200m walk. The Daintree River is 34kms and Cape Tribulation 70kms. You can get to the Great Barrrier Reef easily from Port Douglas with boats of every size, planes and helicopters all available. Mossman River gorge is 10min away.

We love our Hacienda Cooya Beach. The house is comfortable and so, so relaxing. It's a place that's made for lazy days swimming in the pool, having BBQs and drinks on the verandah. The verandah is huge with a bunch of different areas that are great for brekkie, coffee, drinks, reading, watching the cricket in summer on the big TV or just taking in the tropical gardens. Cooya Beach is out of the hustle and bustle of the touristy Port Douglas, but it is close enough to be able to get to cafes, restaurants, fashion shops and leisure activities within 10-15 minutes. We also love the markets in the area. Mossman on Saturday (5kms away), Port Douglas on Sundays (18kms), and Mareeba up on the tablelands (1 or 2 Saturday's a month). It's also a short drive to the Daintree River (spot a croc, dingo or a cassowary), and a little further on to Cape Tribulation (70kms or under 1 hour drive). Further afield is Mareeba (around 1 hour's drive) and the historic frontier township of Cooktown (about 3 hours, recommend overnighting if you go there).

Cooya Beach is a tranquil, friendly beach community. It is not developed like so many places - there are no hotels, apartments or bars. It's great for a walk along the beach, fishing and crabbing or just lolling around the pool. It is also incredibly close to everything, so while you're not in a busy area, it is just a short drive to Port Douglas with its restaurants and bars, or north to other beach townships like Newell, Rocky Point and Wonga and on up to the Daintree. We often drive up to Rocky Point or Newell or the Daintree River for a late afternoon drink (grab a pizza from the shop at Newell on the way). Cape Tribulation is 70kms north. It takes less than 1 hour. We often drive up and have lunch at the Cafe By The Sea at Thornton Beach (just before Cape Tribulation). There's heaps to explore and do: • Great Barrier Reef is a must see. You can go on one of the bigger boats like Quicksilver, or there's a huge variety of other options. • Mossman Gorge is 10 minutes away for a swim in the gurgling rock pools in the rainforest. • Head up to the Atherton Tablelands. Mount Molloy Rd takes you up the mountain. The turnoff is only 4km from Cooya Beach.
