As like for other wine regions we tried to find a hotel with a winery in walking distance. This one is about 500m from Bimbadgen Estate, which features a high quality restaurant, a cellar door and a pizzeria, and we made use of all of that.
We had a friendly welcome at H Boutique Hotel (also by some roos, which enjoyed the rain), and got a big room, in fact it's an apartment with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room and a terrace. There's of course ample parking.
Next to the reception there's an interesting shop / bar / cellar door... don't know what to call it, but we enjoyed a nice cheese and wine tasting there, and the next day a breakfast too (it's not open every day though, but we were lucky). It was perfect for the rainy day we had on arrival. Apart from the winery you can walk to, you're very close by car to every other Hunter Valley attraction and winery.

Spoilt with the number and quality of exceptional Hunter Valley wineries.
Wines were brilliant. Cellar doors very knowledgeable and willing to share their wine knowledge as needed.
The compact nature of the Valley means travel is easy and without hassles.
Restaurants and concert venues are 1st class.
Being so close to Sydney... it's a must to visit and enjoy the world class wines!

Beautiful area with gorgeous scenery and incredibly welcoming people at every place we went. So many little wineries to visit, chocolate and cheese. A great place to relax and wind down.
We weren’t that overwhelmed by the brunches we had at Liesure Inn and Eden at the Garden Centre, but the surroundings and lovely people helped overcome that. I think some places rely on the tourist one time visit rather than getting everything right.

It turned out to be an AirBNB.
It turned out to be an AirBNB. Promised breakfast and had to cook myself. Not a good choice. Told by owner I could go out somewhere else to have breakfast!!!! Why when I have paid for it?
Shower over spa tub in bathroom so not easy getting in and out. Tear in one of pillow slips. Furniture not very nice.

It's great for couples, not alot to do for children but we found a few options. Perfect for a weekend getaway and of course a wedding which is why we were there. Super impressed with Brokenwood and the changes they have made.

Pokolbin has quite a few things to do and a number of accommodation options at your disposal. It's just a matter of how much you can afford to spend and how much time you have to see everything. We drove around as this was easiest for a family, although you had the expensive horse and carriage or cheap electric bike hire as other options. The wineries are always a winner, but the Chocolate & Fudge Factory and Cheese Factory are good to visit as well. Take a look at Pepper Tree Vineyard. They offer free use of their gardens/vines for a picnic opportunity, but you do need to book this.

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best.
Hunter Valley Gardens was the best. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort was horrific. Only those visitors who booked with Oaks could use facilities others could not even though we paid the same amount. We were deprived of the use of major facilities at the resort as we booked through booking .com. It was a humiliating experience, awful for my daughter. Heartbreaking. The woman at Oaks reception was vile when explaining the disaster to me.
Everything was perfect! Loved everything about this hotel, staff were excellent and friendly, our room the premier suite was so beautiful and very clean, had everything we needed and more, bed was comfortable, fireplace was nice and cozy, also the Italian restaurant was amazing with beautiful food, and of course the location is perfect close to everything cafes restaurants, hunter valley gardens.
Everything was beautiful we will definitely be back to stay here again soon, many thanks.
It was amazing, I'd totally recommend it! Its exactly if not more beautiful than the pictures! Really friendly couple who owns it and they gave us a bottle of red wine and some eggs from their chickens and also some chocolate just to say hello!
The bed is king size, its so comfy, the location is perfect for the wineries and you are seperated from the main house so its private. Its romantic with the fire and so much better and spacious than a 5 star hotel.
Our first time visiting the Hunter Valley on our way home from a driving holiday to Canberra and home is Townsville
It was such a great location and lovely accommodation and close to a really nice new tavern Nineteenth Hunter Valley
Would love to spend a few days and experience all the area has to offer. So glad we choose this place, there was a Wedding happening the same afternoon we checked in and it looked like an amazing spot to get married
A great villa with a peaceful and private setting. Felt very homely and was exceptionally clean. Great kitchen facilities, spacious lounge and balcony and very comfortable beds. The resort itself is 5 star and would recommend it over other golf resorts I have stayed at in the Hunter. Great wineries close by, next door to Brokenwood which is a beautiful spot for lunch and a tasting.
The room was spacious and clean, plenty of storage available. The location is fantastic, so close to so many wineries, the fabulous Hunter Valley Gardens and shops, and cheese and chocolate factories. We also had breakfast every morning which was sensational. All of the staff, at reception, in the restaurant and bar, were friendly and helpful, and communicative.
This a very elegant country house hotel, placed perfectly in the Hunter Valley wine region. Our room was very stylish, and the buffet breakfast was one of the best l have ever had anywhere in the world. We particularly enjoyed the open fire in the small sitting room where we had a drink and bar snacks. The grounds are superb and very well maintained.
Location is fantastic super central to the big ticket items in the valley. Self contained villa with all the amenities and a decent size. Beds were comfy and they were able to make the 2nd bedroom into a twin for our kids which was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful buildings in the heart of the Hunter Valley. the view was amazing and we were able to spot some wild Kangaroos from our verandah. There is a terrific lounge by the bar with a pool table where we were able to sit and enjoy some entertainment a drink and some snacks.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, rooms we're clean and spacious with great views, location and hotel was awesome really friendly and helpful staff Matt went out of his way for us. Would definitely recommend and will re book this for another stay in the future.
Location was very central to all Pokolbin and Hunter Valley has to offer so that is super.
The rooms were simple but beautifully designed and decorated, and beds very comfortable - really nice.
And the garden absolutely stunning.
Sam and Matt were so friendly and accommodating. We loved the wine tasting facilities at the hotel and really enjoyed both the Jac & Jones wine tasting experience and the in-house bar. We'll definitely be back. Thanks guys.
Wonderful & accommodating staff. The room was great. The meals served from their restaurant were very lovely. Central to all the highlights of the Hunter Valley. Highly recommend this hotel for a fantastic stay.
Location is right next to Hunter valley gardens. Clean and well maintained rooms. Value for money. Parking is right outside rooms, easy to transfer luggage. Property has kids play area, swimming pool, golf.
The staff at Spicers Guest House were amazing. Very accommodating! The room was fantastic and the overall feel of the place is something to remember.. I would most definitely recommend it to my friends!
