Lovely little city on a river. Lots to see and do. Must see the Gorge and walk the lovely walks there. Waterfront restaurants, Family friendly places to visit. Safe for women travelling on their own. (use common sense) Penny Royal accommodation is close to everything and family friendly. Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than...
Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough. If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered. There are a lot of short trips from Launceston for viewing...
There are a lot of short trips from Launceston for viewing other locations of interest. We did the short river cruise which was very interesting. Lots of good dining facilities in and around Launceston. Great motor Museum for car lovers. Enjoyed our time in the City Park - definitely worth devoting a few hours. Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. After spending 1.5 hours trying to find the hotel having seen the original hotel Launceston in the centre of town we had to enquire with the locals to find where we were to stay.
