The outdoor bath was a hit with my son. The kitchen was well equipped. We love all of the decor and the information that was provided about the history of the cottage.

What's not to love about Tenterfield, especially when the Autumn colour puts on a show! There's plenty to do for lovers of history, also several national parks a short distance from town, other scenic drives (Tourist Drives 7 and 9 are highlights), and short road trips to nearby towns that have different character to investigate.
Sadly the Visitor Information Centre is permanently closed so it's best to do your research online or before you get to Tenterfield. Also there are not many places to eat open on certain days of the week (we found Sunday particularly difficult) and several museums and places of interest have reduced their days of opening. Probably Thursday to Sunday provides more options than Sunday to Wednesday.

Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people. We had a very negative experience with one boutique shopkeepers' quarters accommodation. which had such potential but didn't see through and especially for the price however the town was gorgeous and everyone else was so friendly and accommodating. We have family living nearby and will come back to this gorgeous little town.
The "Stone Fruit" bar has exceptional coffee, the florist was lovely and arty, and the clothes choices were fantastic! Lots of little quaint coffee places dotted up the street. The Peter Allen motel was old (loved the kitsch orange floor tiles in the bathroom) very clean, central, friendly and just all-round welcoming.

I grew up just down the highway from Tenterfield and was very pleasantly surprised when I visited it again for the first time in 40 years, for a wedding.
The Northern Tablelands of NSW is a beautiful area and Tenterfield now has a great place to stay in the Commercial Boutique Hotel; really good cafes for breakfast or lunch (Badmanners Cafe, Courtyard Cafe); and several restaurants and pubs (Colonial Hotel) for an enjoyable evening meal.
Lots to see in the area or further up or down the New England Highway.

We did not get to the accommodation because of the fires at Tenterfield but that was no fault of the owner who was very helpful to me when I explained our situation. I hope to stay there at a later date when the bush fires settle down and would like to have the money I have paid in abeyance until we can arrange another day to attend

The Town is as dead as a Dodo, but when I was last here 30 years ago, it was then too. One can safely fire a cannon down the road at 7 p.m. and as for finding a meal, there were very limited choices. The next town up the road in Qld, Stanthorpe, is humming!

We only had one day so drove the Mackenzie Mountain tourist route#9 to see the granite rocks and they were amazing. Then drove to Boonoo Boonoo National Park where the walks are quite short to the falls (sadly very little water due to drought conditions but still worth going) The rock pools were beautiful despite low water.
We enjoyed our walk along the main street and visited the Tenterfield Traveller shop.
Lots of great dining options.
There's a skate park which looks brand new and lovely walks through the parklands along Tenterfield Creek
This Motor Inn is dated and the decor is getting on but the Room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The Motel Managers were your typical Australian country friendly and inviting folk, they even offered to drive me to my dinner reservation down town.
I have stayed in state of the art Hotels all over Australia and their room cleanliness was no where near on par.
The free continental breakfast was a fantastic edition and was enough to keep me driving until lunchtime.
The location was perfect. We were travelling home from Ballina and seeing friends for dinner in Tenterfield. The motel was so close to their home and so quiet. The decor and tiles were fresh and attractive. Mum was able to have a quiet morning watching the news whilst I went into town with my friend for breakfast. Everything was so close. The staff were very friendly and Mum loved the home baked biscuits they provided at check in. We will return!
Our second stay, and absolutely love the cottage. Very comfortable, walking distance to shops, eateries and Coles. Love the history of the cottage and how the it has been decorated with quirky bits and pieces. Breakfast items supplied which is a nice surprise. Looking forward to returning again asap. Love Tenterfield.
Located along Rouse Street, the Tavern Hotel is a spacious, clean and convenient base when exploring the historic Tenterfield and the scenic Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo National Park. The tavern, just a skip and a hop from the motel, serves great t-bone steak and a welcome bonus at the end of the day.
Many such parks are next to main roads with overnight traffic. Tenterfield Lodge Caravan Park was not so - it is in a very quiet part of town, but close to amenities such as restaurants and fuel. If you want a quiet, peaceful night, it’s the place to stay.
My partner and I love this grand historic home. We travel to tenterfield when ever we need to wind down and chill out. The host is such a lovely person nothing is to hard. Very knowledgeable on history of stannum house. And it has a many varied changes.❤️
The accomodation was very quaint and just what we wanted for a getaway. It was private and quiet, yet super close (short walk) to everything you would need. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. Lovely authentic bathtub!
Perfect location, warm and welcoming this was a wonderful start to our Tenterfield adventures. Loved the big bath and comfy beds. Easy to access and a stroll to the pub - what more could you want. We will book again.
Great location, central to all your needs. Commercial Hotel fantastic food. Coffee places Botero, The Potting Shed in the main street. Bad Manners delicious coffee & donuts. Walking distance to everywhere.
Great central location, quiet, and a good price. Microwave is good to see and the room was fine for an overnight stay. As a bonus, the pub just outside the back door had good meals.
Cute cottage with loads of history. Right in the middle of town an a short walk to cafes and pubs and lovely bonus of breakfast items (eggs tomatoes and toast milk and tea).
The bbq area was really handy, especially on a public holiday. The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was great. Very friendly staff at reception.
Tenterfield is great. Had a very good dinner in the Commercial Hotel. fantastic tourist drive #9 through beautiful countryside with lots of rock wallabies.
Spotlessly clean, excellent security, free continental breakfast, good undercover parking, great value. Godd recomendation to dine at the Commercial Hotel.
