- staff were so friendly and welcoming
- room was very clean
- bathroom nice, spacious and clean
- the bistro was convenient. Was here for work. Went downstairs for lunch then went back up to my room to rest. The food was delicious, served quickly, and reasonably priced
- beds and pillows were pretty comfortable
- price was okay
- I travelled solo and so the room was the perfect size. It felt a lot cosier. Might feel a bit too small and restricted if travelling with another person
- would definitely stay again

Bairnsdale is a large country town.
Bairnsdale is a large country town. The Catholic Church as you you enter from the Melbourne side on the left is definitely worth a visit. A volunteer is available and has a wealth of information in relation to the church and history of the area. Not to be missed. There are plenty of shops, the Potted Pear, gift wares, is great. There are museums, historical and Aboriginal. Bairnsdale is a lovely place for a day visit.JoanneAustralia - 8.0Scored 8.0

Typical Australian town which is busy during the day and completely dead at night. Felt quite safe to walk around early evening but can't comment on late evening.All usual shops available. We ate at the Cow & Fish Pub which was excellent for food but lacked soft furnishings in the dining area. Felt it was a bit like a social club rather than a hotel/restaurant. Very convenient for us as travelling down to Paynesville and Lakes Entrance which is only a 25 minute drive away. Also played golf at Metung Country Club which was excellent including lunch at the club house.

Our stay was way too short. Bairnsdale allows you the perfect location to explore the region. You have to try the Thai restaurant Cinnamon, it was amazing and the flavours are on point. RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather. surrounding cafes served overpriced meals. A lot of foot traffic around left us not leaving doors unlocked. We used it as a destination for the hotel. And that is where it ended. however we only stayed one night.Ross - 10Scored 10

The Mitchel River Tavern is an interesting place to stay. Close to the centre of Bairnsdal, it has comfortable accommodation, a Bistro, Barm, Club and off-street parking. Staff were helpful and checkin and out was fast and relaxed.ChrisAustralia

Our host was incredibly obliging and even offered to drive us back to where my friends new electric car was being “fast” charged!!! The double family room was comfortable and quiet despite being opposite reception . Would thoroughly recommend - very handy too to centre of Bairnsdale as name suggests .

It has the best location in Bairnsdale being on the main road in the center of the city. Sure, there quite a few things to do but if you are looking the most convenient central site in the city and needing a comfortable, quiet night you should consider the Castle (previously the Kansas City)

The city centre with shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc is about 3 km from the motel. Lakes Entrance is approximately 40 km, Paynesville 18 km and Raymond Island is 24 km from this facility.
