We loved the pool area and the wonderful staff took great care of us. We utilized the shuttle to town for dinner a few times but found the food at the resort to be better.

We left Canada on a snowy day and arrived to 34C heat; very warm. The local people are very friendly and seem to appreciate tourists, even those like us, who don’t speak Spanish. The town is definitely a tourist town with many shops and restaurants. The sunsets can be remarkable and we were surprised to see so many of the locals arriving on the beach to appreciate the sun disappearing and watch the sky’s afterglow that followed.

Tamarindo had the most vibrant vibe out of the areas I visited in the area. Its got a great beach, nightlife and many good dining options. I did get propositioned one time (at 7pm) but was probably the only single male walking around (it was off season and few foreign tourists, mostly locals). I politely say no thank you and that was the end of it. I felt completely safe diving and walking around, even at night. I ate a several local restaurants outside my hotel and had great meals at each. Surfing in the main draw here, but there are lots of excursions in the area.

Great lively little beach town.
Great lively little beach town. Lots of restaurants, from more expensive hotel options, to road-side stalls, to a food-truck park (cool!). Our favorite was the Pelican, which had fantastic seafood meals for a reasonable price. Town has lots of local tourist shops, some good beachwear stores, ice-cream shops, and a few local t-shirt shops, etc. Town is on the beach, which is public, and there is lots of great sight seeing and people-watching (including beginner to pro surfers). Main complaint: everything is in USD, and costs almost equivalent to Canadian prices, if not more expensive. Cocktails from 10-15 USD. Meals from USD 20-35, Massages - USD $100, tourist treks and activities - around $100/person. Oh...have to mention Costa Ricans, who are lovely, friendly, hospitable, and respectful - have nothing but good things to say about the people. So if you don't mind spending money for a tropical holiday, Tamarindo is a great place to do it!

Fun surf town.
Fun surf town. Great if you want to surf, fish or just hang at the beach. A variety of food joints from local Sodas (awesome) to bougie upscale joints. Lots of little shops, freindly locals. Surf is perfect for beginners.

Tamarindo is very touristic and the prices are reflected by that. Yet, it is simple to navigate, the locals speak english and there's a lot of things going on every day.
Not necessarily the best place to go for culture and history, but if you're looking to meet up with other travelers, or just have a nice vacation by a beach and some nightlife, then Tamarindo is absolutely a place to visit

This was the very first time to Costa Rica and even though we only had a day and a half to stay there due to business we enjoyed our stay the hotel was amazing it was in a good location. The correspondence prior to our arriving was absolutely excellent. They arranged for us to have a shuttle pick up at the airport and delivered us back to the airport Henry at the front desk and Melanie at the kitchen shall I say we're excellent everyone spoke very good English and they were very helpful for anything and everything we needed.
The hotel was comfortable, and the room had a lovely view. The hotel's pool and restaurant also had lovely views. The transport from the hotel into town was useful and timely. Though the hotel is on a hill that requires transport into town, it is still well situated to the town. The hotel is less than a 5-minute drive from town. The breakfast was ok, a mixture of traditional Costa Rican breakfast and US style. The hotel provides access to the Langosta Beach Club which was a perk of staying at the hotel.
Best kept hotel I have ever been at - the whole staff works hard and it shows! The entire place was spotless (would have eaten off of the floor). Staff were all very kind. Really appreciated the ambiant sounds played near the pool - we felt like we were staying at a spa, which was very relaxing. If you want to stay in an oasis of calm in the heart of the bustling city of Tamarindo - I highly recommend this hotel! Bonus: spotting monkeys a few meters away when eating breakfast.
Both hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating. They gave us tips on activities and markets and it was nice to chat spontaneously by the pool from time to time and learn something about them and Costa Rica. Even when I fell ill, they advised me where I could get medical treatment.
The hotel is also fantastic. It is very modern and clean:) you can escape the heat in the rooms:) we really enjoyed my stay there:)

Came with a group of friends stayed for 4 nights, room was comfortable and clean. Pool was lovely and the location was excellent, all of Tamarindo is within walking distance. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful, giving great advice for our next stops in Costa Rica, also organised surfing for us with a great instructor. Would definitely recommend!
