Our Unique Bed & Breakfast Idea Our aim is to provide something a bit different from a traditional Bed & Breakfast. We prefer to think of ourselves as B&B-ish; similar, but different in a few important ways. Similarities: We offer a friendly, relaxed and comfortable space for your stay and a delicious Andalucian breakfast. Important Differences: We don't have any chintz and we try not to be fussy. At No31 you are very welcome to come and go as you please. You can go to your room for a siesta without "disturbing" us or having to interact, unless you choose to. We would be more than happy to chat and give you suggestions about what to see and where to go to enjoy this authentic Andalucian pueblo. We have comfortable seating in each room as well as in our guest areas, plus interesting outdoor space - a rooftop patio with wonderful views of the Moorish castle and Church for evening drinks and fabulous star gazing. Or if you prefer, why not spend an afternoon lounging on the terrace and soaking up the sun? You will still find the comfort you expect in a B & B and our uniqueness for those looking for something less traditional and a more comfortable stay.
We are a Canadian couple who have lived abroad for the last 20 years in some of the world's largest cities - Shanghai, London, Madrid, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Barcelona. Our current adventure takes us to Olvera, in southern Spain, population less than 10,000. We first visited this region of Spain 15 years ago and fell in love with the "white villages" (los pueblos blancos), the clear blue skies, streets lined with orange & lemon trees, and the heavenly stars at night. We are back, but this time to stay. After so many years living and working abroad, we decided to take a career break. For the last couple of years we have done some interesting travel and had lots of long discussions about next steps and future plans. And so, here we are, back to the White Villages of Andalucia and to the town of Olvera in Cádiz province. We purchased a glorious old townhouse, centrally located in the historic part of Olvera close to the Moorish Castle and the beautiful Church. The town of Olvera, located in the province of Cádiz, borders the provinces of Seville and Málaga and is at the tip of the ruta des los pueblos blancos ("white towns route"), The hills surrounding Olvera are full of olive groves that are said to provide the best extraction of olive oil in Andalucia. In recent years it has received the award of the "Denominación de Origen de la Sierra de Cádiz". Of great interest within the municipality is a large colony of Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus) to be found within the natural reserve of the "Peñon de Zaframagón", a huge rock outcrop that is located 14 km to the northwest of town. There is much history in Olvera and it is also an ideal base for exploring other destinations in the region. Day trips to Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Jerez, Zahara and Ronda are all within easy reach. There is an abundance of outdoor activities as well such horseback riding, hang-gliding, mountaineering, kayaking and sailing.
