Altea is a beautiful place to visit for its setting, it's creative shops and it's hospitality. The choice of restaurants are excellent and the ambience of the whole area is very attractive. We were there in the winter and enjoyed the mainly sunny weather. We enjoyed walking along the wide seaside promenade, having meals and drinks out, which are generally better value than in UK. The train south to Benidorm and north to Denia is cheap and frequent and makes it easy to explore nearby towns. There are good supermarkets. Almost all shops and restaurants accept payment via your phone (Apple Pay), so we rarely needed cash. As it was winter we did not swim in the sea but we didn't see a sandy beach in Altea, just pebbles. My gut feeling is that Altea is best for older people rather than young families.Guest review byNigelUnited Kingdom

Let down by the buffet food, and the 35 euro evening meal. Lack of choice for 35 euro, and all buffet food was cool, not piping hot as hot food should be. Food not up to standard for 5 star Hotel, in my opinion. We have eaten much better food in other local Hotels, that were 3 or 4 star. There is little balcony which I loved. All nice restaurants are within the walking distance. The owner is super helpful. Next door there are little boutiques... everything is charming.
