A town almost entirely built from scratch from the 1960s...
A town almost entirely built from scratch from the 1960s onwards, Cap d'Agde has nevertheless colour and character -- much more than similar "new resorts" along the French Mediterranean coast. The port is lively, and offers a range of reasonably-priced boat trips, from mini-cruises around the local coastline and out to the old prison-fort in the bay in a glass-bottomed boat to a day of dolphin-watching -- if the dolphins turn up. The shops along the quay appear at first sight to offer the usual sea-side tat, but on closer inspection have quite good quality holiday wear -- well-cut men's shorts, high-grade cotton summer shirts and women's cotton dresses for warm evenings. Here the prices are closer to what might be expected in inland towns but there are certainly plenty of bargains.
The town has been planned in the style of an old fishing village, with small alleyways and stairs linking its several levels, and is well worth exploring. on the edge of the main area is an appealing conference and art exhibition centre, and in a grove of pines an excellent small museum focussed around Greek and Roman relics recovered from ancient wrecks offshore.
Back to the port: there seems to be a lack of good restaurants. Too many pizzerias and almost none serving locally-caught fish. The portside bar-lounges seem not to care too much to have your custom or not, but one good place to stop by for lunch-time drinks, people-watching and freshly-cooked and copious tapas is the Carre Rouge just opposite the spot where the cruises board. The staff there were welcoming and the service prompt on both occasions we dropped by.
There are large car parks all around the centre of town.

We have known the area for over 25 years, including having our own appartment for 17. It is a lower cost area along the south coast of France but just as pleasant.
You have the beaches,(textile or naturist), good bars, restaurants at all price breaks. Taxi a little expensive but the local bus service only €1 per trip.

Ours was a 1 night stay en route to Spain. It was in the middle of December, the weather was chilly, windy and grey and the town felt 'dead'. We could find nowhere to eat other than driving out to the SuperU to either McDonalds or Crescendo.
The town may be better in the Summer but we won't be trying it again.

Absolutely bad accommodation in a great place.
Absolutely bad accommodation in a great place.
It did not like · The apartment is in terms of cleanliness in catastrophic state, cobweb, dust, unnecessary things stuck on the toilet and cabinets. Pillows absolutely uncomfortable. A blanket of a bed of bed in common for both. Missing toiletries, no soap or shampoo even after urgency was delivered. Two towels for two people for the whole stay, 1 roll of toilet paper for the whole stay.
They wanted to pay the entire amount for us, even if 30% of the deposit was paid. The deposit only after long arguing and evidence. Apology of one -word sorry.

This is a very modern resort with beautiful beaches and great for all holidaymakers. There are so many restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and the beaches, which have free parking, have beach bars and loungers/parasols to rent.
The heated pool is a great feature. The rooms are small but met our needs. The beds were basic but comfortable. The place is very clean and very secure with security keypads to enter the premises in the evenings and at nighttime. The price was very reasonable and the hotel met my expectations. I would recommend it. I would skip the breakfast as there's a lovely bakery within walking distance and there is a kitchenette in the rooms so you have the flexibility to get a bigger selection.
Enjoy!
We expected a nice stay, but it was better than we expected.
The house, the kindness of the hosts, the hospitality were second to none. Close to the naturist village, and more quiet. The bed, very comfortable. We slept like babies. The hosts make you feel at home from minute one.
If we had the chance to design a stay alacarte, we would not do it better.
We know where to stay next time at Cap d'Agde.
Thank you for all, Joelle and Georges!!
The hotel is perfectly located . Close to the port, the Casino, the market, restaurants etc .
The Host are very nice, accommodating for everything that you want and always with the smile. I felt confortable going there and like home.
Breakfast is very complete with everything you want British or French type with fresh bakeries.
I highly recommend Opal hotel. I am very choosy when it comes to Hotel comfort and I found the one I love in Cap d'Agde.
The apartment was compact but well laid out and comfortable. It was really well stocked with everything one needed including for trips to the beach... I wasn't expecting that! Brilliantly positioned for everything in the Naturist Village and less than five minutes from the beach (two if you're feeling energetic. Thank you Mourad and Stephanie.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is in a convenient location with it being a 5 minute walk to the harbour.
We didn't get to use the pool, because we were only staying the one night, but it looked well maintained and very tempting.
Would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.
The place was in an ideal location for the shortest walk to the naturist village beach. There was enough space for 2-3 people comfortably as there is a small sofa in addition to a bed that sleeps two. The view from the terrace was really nice into the village and you could see the a portion of the sea.
The hotel staff are amazing- mind-readers and so helpful especially Christine who constantly checked that everyone was happy and welcomed. Wonderful facilities also and may possibly be top contender to book longer next time.
Excellent location in the naturist village close to beach access and lovely view of the sea from our spacious balcony. Clean and basic studio apartment well equipped. Our host was very attentive to our needs.
The staff were so friendly .The atmosphere in the hotel was so cozy and comfortable .i liked everything about this place and this hotel and would like to visit it again and again and again ❤️❤️❤️❤️
We loved our stay !
The all team was very helpful and make us enjoy our first stay at “village nudist cap d’adge”
We came to this hotel for the experience and we enjoy much more than expected
Modern, light hotel. Close to the beach, 3 minute walk. Very friendly staff, spacious private open air parking. We arrived early, but got the keys to our room without any problems raised.
The location is great for the Naturist Village. It’s quiet and away from the main party scene. It has a parking spot. The host was responsive and nice.
