It is a lovely place to discover, beautiful walkways along the the marina, the historic center is pretty. The big problem is the presence of the africans,, all young men with Iphones and trendy clothing, certainly not refugees, lurking around everywhere, day and night, breaking into UK cars, if they are big enough to try to get to England. They are squatting around every corner, littering , urinating etc. Really it is a shame.

We were getting there to eat at "La moulerie" in front of the Casino (for sea food) and get to the "Criée" early in the morning to buy fish and sea food. We managed to get everything done properly.

I really wasn't there long enough to say anything about Ouistreham itself - I stopped briefly in Caen on the way and I certainly enjoyed the old half-timbered houses in the centre. The Castle will be a must see on my next visit, as will the beautiful old Norman/Romanesque churches and the nearby coastline, such as nearby-Dives-sur-Mer, where I stayed on a previous trip to Normandy and I can certainly recommend with its ancient church. Falaise Castle, said to be the castle of William the Conqueror, is the far side of Caen.

We have been here 20+ times as it is our twin town. The beach is lovely, the town is pleasant and we always have a good time. We stayed here in the hotel for one night after a trip further south and chose the Hotel du Phare because of its position. It is a typical, old style French hotel. The drains smell was off putting: the breakfast was good and the staff excellent.

Be prepared to walk a lot, so comfy shoes a must, I did find out on my last day that you can hire push bikes at the beach per hour, which is great because Ouistreham and it’s surrounding are quite big, the beaches are spotless and very impressive as is the history surrounding the area, I would say the area is very geared up for French tourism, so a basic grasp of French is a good idea, as most menus, and staff only speak French, having said that, there are plenty of English speaking people around in case your struggling !!

The resort was a surprise, because we expected just the port...
The resort was a surprise, because we expected just the port, but when we went for a wander around after driving up from Guidel Plages we found the enormous long sandy beach and all the amenities. It’s obviously hugely popular on warm days and stretches for miles. Many of the 2nd WW beaches are within easy reach. This might not be the prettiest place, but it has a lot more going for it than we had expected.
Location for the ferry port is excellent and yet is close to bars and restaurants.
The reception was extremely friendly and helpful (Julien) and although hotel reception is only manned for a couple of hours in the afternoon, Julien had made every effort to ensure that we knew how to access our room, with email and text instructions.
The rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean.
We have stayed here many times as it is so close to the ferry terminal.
We are a couple travelling by motorbike and we always book the family room to give us enough space to re-arrange our luggage before catching the ferry.
The room is clean and there is parking for motorbikes at the rear of the property.
It was very quiet and clean, we relaxed a lot in the pools and me and mg mother enjoyed the different treatments. I really loved the relaxing massage although it’s only 25 minutes. The hotel is located in front of a big beach which allows for long and nice walks. Breakfast was really good with lots of choice.
Friendly, family run hotel with a great location, within very easy reach of the beach, centre ville and the ferry port. Clean, comfortable and (English speaking) friendly staff. Perfect for an overnight stay before catching ferry or a great base to explore Ouistreham and its environs.
The hotel is situated within a short distance of the ferry port and has a private car park behind the building. I find this preferable to having to park in a public car park open to people walking past. The access door was very useful as I was leaving very early.
The room was beautiful and clean. There is a real family-business sense about the place and service was good and was very personalised. The hotel was full of charm and I would definitely recommend on balance. Very relaxed but attentive customer service.
Nothing. It was so horrendous that we stayed for about half an hour before deciding the situation was unsalvagable, and we left and got a room at a nearby hotel. This us a terrible accomodation for someone who's got to catch an early ferry.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good value breakfast. Nice, clean and modern room with hot drinks supplied. Good location for exploring Ouistreham or the wider region. Close to the ferry terminal and town centre with good restaurants nearby.
Didn't have breakfast had early ferry to catch could start earlier but set up looked really good. Location perfect for bars, restaurants, boulanger, beach and ferry port. Staff very welcoming and lovely quintessential period hotel.
Great location for the ferry, lovely to have adjoining rooms for the kids. A few restaurants nearby and a short walk to the beach and the centre of Ouisterham which also has shops and restaurants.
Great location, would recommend a walk along the pretty Caen canal. Smart modern hotel, clever room/door/parking code system. Fantastic aircon on the hottest night in decades
