Location was the only good thing with this stay, but having been in Villefranche many times (this one the 3rd this year), I'd rather walk longer from the bus than stay here again - until this hotel is updated with regards to:
> beds (horrible standard)
> cleanliness (now mission impossible as very outdated and scruffy), ouf!!!
> missing hooks in the room, we had to hang jackets on door handle...
> bathroom, terribly cheap interior and even if recently (?) renovated it was already in a bad state, with broken shelves and shower constructed in a way that made you stand in high water as if it was a tub etc (+stupid small things like the soap container installed just above the toilet roll... no comments)

The location was exceptional. We could get to all the places along the Riveria easily. Ville France Sur Mer is a perfect place along the waterfront with many wonderful restaurants . The view off the terrace was breathtaking! Our host, Julie was great! She was very helpful in finding our way around & stayed in touch throughout our visit.

We absolutely loved the penthouse. It was beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped. It is quite high up on the hill so be prepared for that. The views are absolutely stunning!!! We stayed six nights, and they were our favorite part of our 35 day trip to Scotland and France. The balcony is immense and the views at different times of the day and night were magical. We did not want to leave. We had some trouble getting the door unlocked the first time, (pull back slightly to get it unlatched), but the property manager responded quickly and came to help us. It was an adventure figuring out how best to go down to, and get back up from the town center at first, but with some help from the Tourist Info. center, we learned how to use the little bus, #80, which helped a great deal! Otherwise it is 475 steps which takes some stamina! Our bus driver was so friendly and kind, he was a real pleasure to get to know. This place is amazing, we highly recommend it!
It is just such a beautiful place. Maybe not so suited for elderly or disabled people because there are a lot of stairs down to the vibrant area of the port and beach where most of the restaurants and bars are located. We had wonderful meals and drinks in great bars and loved sitting close to the water to eat our meal !! There is a little shuttle bus that can take you down from the top to the bottom but it only goes once an hour!

Very hilly withy difficult driving. Suggest renting an automatic car.
Eze was worth a short visit. We ate in a bistro just down the ro0ad from the hotel. Getting around is NOT easy. It would be better being lower down the mountain to make walking more possible

It's a beautiful area and there are several cafes and restaurants to choose from.
Lots of interesting walks and also lovely beaches where the sea is calm which is great for children.
Recommend Plage La Mariniere for young families.
Unfortunately, Hotel Villa Patricia is not recommended- until there is a change of management. Terribly unprofessional manager at the moment (September 2023).

The place you want to live in if you love the city but also love to be away from tourists. Of course you're going to see tourists all over the French Rivera but Ville Franche-Sur-Mer has this vibe and energy I cannot describe, but it's just something else. It's magical and lovely.

What a fantastic village on the Riviera!
What a fantastic village on the Riviera! We loved the accessibility to everything, and gorgeous old town. The restaurant scene was exactly what my family was looking for (we travelled with children ages 11 and 5). We chose Villafranche based on reviews of the sandy beach at Plage de Marinieres, which did not disappoint!
My family did rent a vehicle, and parking was fairly easy for us. There is a large public (paid) lot down by the beaches that offers easy accessibility to the old town and restaurant scene. I'm not sure our experience would have been as thorough had we not had a car to take us to different areas. The walking around the village is more than some may like due to the elevation (for long periods of time), and the bus schedules can vary. Also, Villafranche is quite central to many desirable areas on the east side of the Riviera, and was great for day trips by car. We also visited St. Paul de Vence, Old Town Nice, Eze Village, Menton, Monaco, and even went into Italy one evening for a meal.

Maybe one of the most beautiful towns we visited in the south of France or anywhere for that fact. Wonderful views, narrow streets, high end restaurants but also excellent cheap restaurants.
It is a must visit for anyone in the area

We had a Superior room on the top floor, with two windows overlooking the sea and the adjoining bastion. Not very big, but clean, comfortable and with a good bathroom.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, one of the best I have seen in French hotels. Staff were friendly and professional.
Many celebrities stayed at the hotel in the old days, such as poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic Jean Cocteau, who decorated the chapel across from the hotel.
This is a gem of a hotel with a lovely history, beautiful facade and lovely spaces to relax in. The staff were all very lovely, room was great and breakfast outstanding. Top tip: If you're walking from the train station and have heavy luggage, ignore Google Maps when it tells you to go up the steps. It'll keep trying to get you to climb stairs but if you keep ignoring it, eventually it will take you to a street that is essentially a ramp up the hill. And the hotel is on a hill!
Our stay at the quaint family run Hotel La Regence was superb. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful with advice about the area, and went out of their way to make our trip exceptional. The rooms are very comfortable, with good air con, great bathroom; and very comfortable beds. Their pain au chocolats for petit dejeuner are the best we have had. The location is excellent, right next to the old town and also a central bus stop. Definitely stay here.
Great hotel overlooking the Mediterranean. Our room was clean and modern. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The pool was refreshing and they gave us towels for the pool and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. They served a very good breakfast with eggs made to order and many other nice choices. Eating breakfast on the terrace was one of the highlights of our trip. We really enjoyed our stay.
This hotel is just wonderful! I'm so grateful we were able to stay here during our first trip to the French Riviera. The location is PERFECT for getting around for day trips. The rooms are very current and comfortable, and the pool and hot tub are A+ with great views toward the sea. The breakfast is prepared by the owners and very tasty! Great variety. Be sure to include breakfast with your stay and you won't be disappointed.
The hotel is super cute and has the most beautiful view first off. The location is great, not too close to all the hustle and bustle but still close enough to walk to the centre of Villefranche sur Mer in 10 minutes or so. Annick, her husband and the staff were fantastic and looked after us in every way. Breakfast looks out onto the most picture card sea view, what's not to like!
The hosts met us in person and were lovely, helping us understand the amenities of the apartment. The location is perfect between the town of Villefranche and Saint jean cap ferret. The bus was located right at the apartment so it was a quick walk to town or a 2 minute bus ride when we were tired. The hotel pool is nice and the beach is just a short walk away.
The breakfast was very good. The scrambled eggs were cooked to order and perfectly. The location is ideal - bus stops to Nice or towards Monaco right outside the hotel - and a pleasant 10 minute walk to the old town (bars and restaurants). The view from the hotel rooms over the bay is magical. This is an outstanding family run hotel.
Hotel is in a great location, if with car there is a car park, if without a car, public transport is great. Local bus, 1euro, takes you in 20-25 minutes to Monte Carlo, or the other way to Nice. Villefranche old town is less than 15 mins walk, beach is few minutes away. And the views are great, Mediteranean at its best...
Lovely situation by the stunning historic Darse harbour, breakfast on the terrace watching the boats. Had a great quiet room overlooking the pretty garden. The hotel still has some period features, with a wonderful marble staircase and nouveau tiles in restaurant.
Very close to : beach, train station ,bus station restaurants, shops. Best location for a vacation. New and good quality of furniture, comfy bed, Szonja was very friendly and helpful. You have also tourist book, equipment for the beach ⛱️
Traditional small, French hotel. our rooms were very clean with simple French toile drapes and linens. The bathrooms were updated. The staff was welcoming and helpful. It is a great deal in Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The hotel is very well situated, close to the port and a very beautiful beach. You can walk within a few minutes to the centre of Villefranche and also to the main beach.
The hotel staff was also very friendly.
Well-equipped apartment located in between Villefranche, Beaulieu, and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Multiple beaches are within walking distance, and a good supermarket is a 20-minute walk. We enjoyed our stay!
I highly recommend getting a room with a view. They are amazing and the best part of staying at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a mix up with our laundry, and they didn't charge us.
We liked very much the hotel facilities: the pool, the garden, the rooftop terrace with a sea view and the breakfast patio. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
