Claire, David and their two children are very excited to welcome you to their small, friendly, family run campsite. (dogs also welcome) Having moved over from England to this beautiful area of France, they are keen to share with you their love for camping, cycling and walking amongst the stunning scenery the valley has to offer. David, a keen ornithologist, can provide his knowledge of the fantastic displays of birds of prey and other wildlife around the campsite. For a treat, come and dine in our restaurant or join in an aperitif in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

Camping River is situated in a haven of mountains. A 1 hectare base camp nestled in an exceptional setting awaits for a pleasant and unforgettable holiday in the largely undiscovered Ubaye Valley. Whether you wish to camp or prefer the luxuries of home, we have a complete range of accommodation to suit your needs. Camping River offers a large range of facilities including sports on the river, swimming, cycling, climbing, walking or simply enjoying a drink on our riverside terrace.

Neighborhood info

Camping River is a perfect base camp for an array of activities, whether it's to explore the natural history or partake in one of the many sports on offer in the Ubaye Valley. Situated on the edge of the Vallon de Laverq you can set out to explore the magnificent panoramas, intimate forests, wild river and crystal waters, rare flora and fauna, climb one of the 250 alpine routes on offer in the area or try your hand (or legs) at climbing one of the famous 7 cols on your bike. (regularly visited by the tour de France) Camping River is not far from the Lac de Serre Ponçon (26km) where other water activities are available or a 16km drive from the mexican influenced town of Barcelonnette where you will find an array of boutiques, cafés and restaurants and many animations throughout the season. There are also the 2 ski resorts of Pra Loup and La Sauze within a 20km drive who open their lifts and pistes to walkers and downhill bikers alike. Located in the southern alps, also known as the dry alps due to it's renowned 300 days of sun, we can guarantee an unforgettable holiday.
