Perfect location! You can walk around the city, get to the different meeting points for the daily tours or catch a train just by crossing the street.
The stuff was kind and helpful.
I liked the breakfast (I didn't mind that there were no "hot" options). The view from the breakfast area was a bonus.
The room was clean. As a solo traveller, I felt really safe in the hotel and in the area.

Room and location were superb! Staff were excellent , especially the Reception Team. Having the lemon water dispenser , and also hot chocolate in the afternoon at Reception was great.
Nice touch to have the miniature whiskies as complimentary in the room!
Would definitely recommend the hotel and would return there, next time I go to Edinburgh.

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.
Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

beautiful city, a delight. stayed in Haymarket, so close to most thongs. great museums. I was looking forward to seeing some plays, but I could not find any. I noticed no plays for months, only musicals or bands. very sad. the concert at Usher Hall was great, though, with a NZ guest conductor.
I wish I came here when I could still spend days walking a hilly city.

All good for us.
All good for us. It is hilly in some parts very steep but although no issue for us may be for some.
Great parks. Many bars, restaurants and cafes nearly all with outside tables (we were lucky with great weather)
The open top bus is well worth £16 for an all day ticket.
Highly reccommend.

A very cultured city - probably the most imperial of the UK. OMG - it's pricey though! This brief visit (for airport) allowed me some time to visit 2 exhibitions at the National Gallery of Scotland, which pleased me greatly

Edinburgh and it's people is one of the most beautiful places you could visit. Start planning your trip a year in advance and start determining when you want to go. Then start reserving rooms using Booking.com.
Allow days for your trip to grow. What may start out as two weeks will quickly become three weeks. Three weeks is a good length.
Airfare is important, mainly aircraft comfort. Don't fly in the cheap seats or your legs won't work when you get to Scotland. Packing to go, first get out what you think you need. Now put half of it back, you don't need it. Now with what you have left, put half of that back. Now you have what you will actually wear. Pack a second bag suitable for a future checked bag, for souvenirs.
Finally, watch lots of Utube Videos.

We had not visited previously - plenty to do and we would recommend taking one of the hop on/hop off tour buses to get the feel of the city and then to explore. Plenty of 'free' stuff e.g. galleries, museums, Scottish Government buildings. Plenty of viewpoints e.g. Calton Hill and Arthur's Seat. Wear good shoes - we did loads of walking - after the initial bus trip...

Perfect location for a short trip to Edinburgh. A bit away from the city Center but conveniently located short walk from nearest train station (one stop to Waverley - the very city centre) and super close to a bus stop. Cosy old style small hotel with some real local climate, unlike anonymous chain brands. Very nicely decorated large room with all necessary facilities. High ceiling, lots of air, lots of light. I definitely do recommend traditional breakfast. Yummy!
Great little hotel in a superb location nice and close to Edinburgh city centre. Staff were friendly and extremely responsive and the breakfast option provided excellent value. The facilities have charm and character so if you're after something new and unused don't come here. But if you're ok with a nice setup and good value this is a great option. We've been several times now.
The Scholar is a well managed hotel, great room and a very comfortable bed. In fact the bathroom was spacious and modern. The whole facility is both modern and homely - excellent facilities all round. Great location and handy bus options for accessing Edinburgh city centre. The best part of the location is that it is a quiet neighbourhood.
Staff were all great and so friendly. The hotel provides everything you need and is in a great location, close to the city centre with lots of transport options on your doorstep. The room was very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Edinburgh!
The Ceilidh-Donia hotel is excellent in every way. Its location is very convenient to get to from Edinburgh city centre. It has great view to Arthur’s seat. Their breakfast was so tasty. People who work there are super friendly and professional. Highly highly recommend!
