We didn't take breakfast as the adjacent restaurant was closed for the day. The room was perfectly adequate and comfortable. I recall the room door handle needing some attention. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were amazingly knowledgeable and super friendly.

The room was clean and tidy and all I needed for one night.
The staff are super friendly and always available.

The local co-op was well stocked and not far away for snacks and pop, and a I took the opportunity to seek guidance from a fellow shopper who steered us to the Pack Horse pub,
https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/pubs/tyne-and-wear/pack-horse/
which gave us a good dinner. We didn't have time to visit Gibside on this trip, but I have been before, the chapel and gardens are well worth as visit. John tells me there is an active live music scene with open mic nights, and directed us to a car boot sale at Blaydon RFC on Sunday morning
