FAQs about hotels in Milton Keynes

A Hub of Entertainment

Best known for its concrete cows and legendary roundabout system, Milton Keynes is just off the M1 motorway linking Birmingham and London. Its proximity to the latter triggered its development from village to new town in the 1960s.

Milton Keynes Village still exists, between tranquil Ouzel Valley Park and Willen Lake with its peace pagoda and watersports. Next door, Gulliver’s Land children’s theme park is bordered by the Grand Union Canal, whose banks have cycle and footpaths.

In the town centre is the aptly named MK Hub, an entertainment core near the train station. In addition to accommodation, bars and restaurants, it houses the huge Xscape complex, comprising the Airkix Indoor Skydiving centre, cinemas, and the UK’s largest indoor ski slope. Nearby are the shops of Centre: MK and Midsummer Place.

On the town’s outskirts is the National Bowl entertainment venue, and Bletchley Park, where the German Enigma code was cracked during World War II. To the east Woburn Abbey has a large safari park, while north-west is Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing F1 team are based in Milton Keynes, and the MK Dons are the local football team. The Open University is also headquartered here.

Of the many Milton Keynes hotels, apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, most have parking and some have swimming pools.

I had arrived from Los Angeles after a 15 hour flight.

I had arrived from Los Angeles after a 15 hour flight. Arrived in London, picked up the car and drove straight to Milton Keynes. I was exhausted. After checking in I crossed over the M&S to get something quick to eat, I realized I had left my card key behind. It was a game day and everyone was busy. I apologized embarrassingly to the woman behind the desk. She said she’d call housekeeping. I waited an hour!! During that time, I had fallen asleep waiting on the chair, broke 2 bowls I had gotten from the restaurant for my food, because I had let them fall when I dozed off. I picked up the pieces and took them to the reception desk apologizing again asking for help. She said she had called housekeeping but they had not answered. 30 mins later I went up to the desk again and asked if she could make another key card for me which she did. I had waited an hour to get into my room and I want to make clear that I didn’t bother them but twice. To ask them for the card and when I broke the bowls.

The thing about M.K. is that you can find your way to anywhere via the roundabouts. The concrete cows and the famous red ways whereby if your on a bike there is no need to go on the main highways the highways rand between 20 and 60 miles per hour for the car driver

Central and convenient location to meet up with friends who live in different places. We drove down from Manchester but were meeting friends from Guilford, London, and Fordingbride, Excellent and frequent train connections, and don't need to drive through major cities to get to Milton Keynes, it's a good central location which people can get to easily. Several attractions close, we went to Bletchley Park for a day 10 mins drive, and loads of shopping around.

    A tale of 2 experiences

A tale of 2 experiences Review of Holiday Inn Milton Keynes East M1, JCT.14, an IHG hotel Reviewed 1 week ago I recently stayed at and ut was a mixed bag of experiences. The location was fantastic, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and had all the facilities need doe an overnight stay. However, the food was a major letdown. Despite being a hotel of good standard, the quality of the food served was absolutely inedible ( I wouldn’t feed it to an animal) How a hotel with such great facilities can serve this rubbish is beyond belief. It truly boggles my mind that a place with so much potential could fall so short in this area. The meals were poorly cooked, tasteless, and far from what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. This issue with the food greatly marred what could have been a perfect stay. If the hotel could address their culinary shortcomings, it would be an exceptional place to stay. Until then, I would caution anyone considering dining here.

Hotel La Tour is ideal for a visit to the theatre and for the shopping centre (which over the years seemed to have become more up market) although still has the old favorites (M&S & John Lewis). All in all though I think MK is catering for the younger generation with all the surrounding activities.

Great hotel, lovely guy checking us in. The hotel was fantastic value for money and located right across from the large shopping mall. It's a very convenient place, if I knew how easy the parking situation was I would have parked right outside the hotel but that's my fault. The room was clean, everything was great about the stay. Great value for money and would stay again anytime I'm in Milton Keynes.

The pool is a great size for getting a good morning swim in. The property is clean and the food is very good! All you can eat style breakfast. The staff are friendly and I have no complaints about this hotel and will be staying again.
