Our home is situated in stunning old English countryside. The single story, 2-3 guest accommodation is self-contained but adjoins our 18th century family home. The cottage has been completely refurbished, providing a very stylish and relaxing space, with a lovely light open plan kitchen/living room and French doors onto a private terrace with views across garden, woods and fields. Private front door access and very private parking. Sadly we cannot accept pets because our own resident dog is not so keen on doggie guests. Our locality is rich in history with so much to do and many wonderful historic houses/castles/country pubs to visit close by. The surrounding area also boasts a vast network of public footpaths through woodland, fields, hills and valleys and is famous for its cycle routes spreading in all directions allowing guests to explore the very best that our region has to offer right from the doorstep. Plentiful walking/cycling route plans provided. Safe cycle storage available. Our county of Kent attracted over 65 million visitors in 2019 and was the UK’s third most visited destination outside of London for international visitors. The county is rightly proud of its rich heritage, many areas of outstanding natural beauty, its iconic chalk cliff coastline and blue flag beaches, quality local produce and more vineyards than any other county in UK. Kent boasts a vibrant cultural and arts tradition but also has easy transport links into London's West End theatre scene. Our location benefits from excellent transport links. We are situated off a quiet country lane but is also only 15 mins south of J5 and 6, M25 and enjoys easy, direct rail links into central London. Gatwick Airport is 30 mins drive, Heathrow 60 mins and the Channel Tunnel and Dover port a quick 75 mins drive.
We have spent many years traveling and living/working abroad but have now returned to the home we bought 25 years ago and where we raised our family and other animals. We love our little spot in Kent particularly because it is a fabulous oasis in this fast changing world. However with great local transport links we don't feel cut off from life despite the peace and tranquility which surrounds us, We love walking, cycling, skiing and the great outdoors in general. Our other passion is food and cooking, which we spend a lot of time discussing, planning, preparing and eating! Both keen gardeners Paul grows a good supply of fresh fruit and veg to feed us through the year while I grow cut flowers for my guests to enjoy. With all that we love right on our doorstep we wanted to give others the opportunity to enjoy it too. If the weather is fine there's nothing better than exploring the area; the many historic houses, the beautiful walks and cycling and, of course, trying out the numerous local pubs for food and drink. If dry, sit on the terrace and simply enjoy the view but if wet then snuggle indoors with a game, a good book/film and a bottle of wine. What's not to like!
The very peaceful property is situated off a rural lane surrounded by accessible fields and ancient woodland near the small village of Four Elms. Relax and soak up the peace and quiet before searching out the many local historic attractions or venture further afield for a day out in London, only 40 mins by train, for a completely different experience. General shopping needs can be met in the local towns.
