Parts of Biddeford were lively and busy with independent shops and eateries. The Bread Cafe was excellent. The staff were very attentive and engaging. We didn’t eat there as we had already eaten a large breakfast but the Rock Buns looked amazing and were very popular with other customers. However, there was also an area that looked a little rundown and in need of some tlc. A sign of the times sadly.

My accommodation was five miles or so from Bideford, in the countryside. Bideford offers shopping and eating opportunities and is a pleasant town. Not a place to spend all your time but, a good base from which to explore N. Devon.

We went in the winter which limited us a little but that's no criticism of the town or area, of course. Lots of tourist facilities. LOADS of activities and nearby beaches/estuaries. Shops open everywhere despite it being March and cold and wet.
It's a lovely place to visit for holiday/break/activities. Perhaps a tiny bit old fashioned but that added to the charm and if you needed tech it was there, just not so much in your face as at home.
Just the right atmosphere for family and/or romance.
Loveliest views & stunning landscapes offering endless walking/hiking/biking/watersports.

Superb fish & chips at Mr Chips and amazing Chinese food for takeaway at Mr Ho, loads of great restaurants and takeaways to choose from.
All large supermarkets available and the shopping area by Asda is worth a look.
Lot's of great charity shops but very uphill walk which is not really user friendly for anyone using crutches or walking stick, best to get droped off at the top and take it steady back down to the river front.

Friendly town with good places for the family to dine and rest. Ample areas to stroll around the town with waterfront and parks. Shopping is adequate and supermarkets allow for self-dining if required. Affordable restaurants and welcoming staff everywhere we visited.

The location was so central to everything.
The location was so central to everything. Albeit in the sticks. Biddeford is very pretty. The surrounded pubs are wonderful. Nothing is too far away
We went to Victoria park. Great on a warm day for kids
Clovelly was beautiful and a lovely experience
The thatched in pub was fab
Westward ho! Beach and the waterfront inn is a must
The hotel is an old coaching inn close to the Nort Devon/Cornwall border with plenty of parking. We took our dog and she was made very welcome in the bar area or terraced beer garden. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
I think the rooms must have been recently refurbished. Our room was immaculate with a four poster bed, en-suite with robes and a small sofa.
We ate in the bar and the food was incredible.
All round outstanding. Not sure why the hotel is not a 4-star
This place has a nice verandah with a table and 8 chairs! Also two sofas and a comfy chair! There is a lovely view of Bideford Bay! The fan heaters are very good, we found out because it was cold a couple of evenings. The beds were comfortable. We had to strip them on departure, we think, from memory, because the instructions were on the laptop in email but there is no Wifi! So not much point sending in email.
We had a lovely week staying at the snug. The cottage was clean, comfortably furnished and well located for touring this area of north Devon. Lots of information about local facilities, places of interest etc provided by the owners Chris and Carol and the welcome pack of bread, milk, cream tea was greatly appreciated. As the name suggests it is however quite a small compact property.
Beautiful accommodation, spacious, with all the comforts of home. All the facilities you could ask for!! Perfect for families, great views, friendly people in the town. Had a fantastic experience. The hosts Jodie and Harvey went above and beyond. Thank you to Harvey for all the recommendations on the best places to visit (really contributed to our experience of Bideford/Devon)💓
The Royal Hotel looks good from the outside and we were very impressed when we entered the building. Very smart foyer and a very welcoming receptionist. We had a very comfortable and impressive room, the evening meal in the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was one of the best we have had. We felt very safe and all the staff wore face masks. Everywhere was very clean.
Lovely little cabin and great location for exploring the North Devon coastline! Well chosen furnishings and well equipped for a shorter stay. The bed was super comfy and the heaters provided did a great job of warming up the cabin on the slightly chillier Spring nights. The cabin is tucked around the side of the main garden, which gives an unexpected sense of privacy.
The mount hotel was a gorgeous property in a idyllic setting close to the town of Bideford, the hotel management were friendly and very welcoming, they took their time in the morning to speak to anyone who was using their facilities, the bedrooms were comfortable and clean very high standards, I would definitely say it was a place I would visit again
We are a family from Miami US, we really enjoy this place, it is our second year visiting this facility and we are pleased with the service, accommodation, room and delicious breakfast, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we definitely would like to come come during spring season, the Hotel is beautiful surrounded by gardens and great outdoors,
The landlady is very friendly and seems eager to help with anything. Room is functional with everything needed for an overnight stay. Home cooked breakfast was very nice and perfect to start the day. Location is good with only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre where there are plenty of takeaways and a pleasant wetherspoons.
The location was ideal. Really central to Bideford. We had a wonderful warm welcome from Steve and Mel. Our hosts were fun, so helpful and accomodating especailly as we had travelled with our bikes and needed to store them overnight. Five star service in a traditional B&B. Easy access to the Tarka Trail. Thank you so much.
The location is perfect, very close to many brilliant locations in North Devon.
The apartment is very spacious and clean. It has everything you could need - including tea and coffee facilities.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful also.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, a real change from London!
We've stayed in many places,
this simply was the best,
Jane and Steve's true dedication
shown to each and every guest.
We'd award Orchard Hill Hotel 5 stars, this can be for sure,
Everything was PERFECT, who could ask for anything more!
Easy to access. Outdoor and indoor pool were great for kids. Good location in North Devon, 20 mins drive to Bideford / Westward Ho. The apartment was nice and comfortable. My daughter loved the reclining sofa!
The Cottage was exactly as advertised. It was clean and easy to deal with Chris the owner. We stayed here whilst visiting Clovelly and Hartland so was a perfect location for exploring the local area.
Hotel was great and the staff wonderful. Extremely helpful and caring. Food very good and coped with a Vegan and GF diet. Easy access and secure car park just across the narrow road.
Lovely view, nice little kitchen, cheapest stay we could find in Bideford for 4 people. Beautiful location. Luckily extra duvets and pillows. Appreciated the dining table.
The host contacted straight away giving process for gaining access to the property .location was perfect will definitely be staying again when we're in the area .
