Salerno is a smaller, less expensive city compared to the Amalfi Coast, yet only minutes away by ferry, train, bus, or car. Great transportation hub. Beautiful, clean, safe, friendly city with both modern and historical centres. Lots to see and do in Salerno and in close proximity. Lots of great restaurants too! We loved Castello di Arechi and the amazing views from there and the Duomo/Museum/Basilica. The Greek ruins at nearby Paestum were amazing, as was our day at Pompeii and Vesuvius. We were disappointed that the Minerva Garden was closed.

Salerno is an attractive and clean modern city.
Salerno is an attractive and clean modern city. I visited after spending several days in Amalfi and found myself very curious and attracted to it. One of my traveling companions spoke about how Salerno was the sort of city where she would enjoy living, and I agreed. Unfortunately I had one single afternoon and evening to see Salerno, but what little I had the chance to see tole me it is a city I would gladly visit again.

We enjoyed Salerno more than we expected.
We enjoyed Salerno more than we expected. We visited for 3 nights and didn't do any of the excursions we had anticipated because Greg had twisted his ankle and was recovering. The old town is fun to wonder in with great street art. The restaurants had high quality seafood. The Duomo di Salerno and the crypt of St Matthew were highly worth a visit even if, like I am, you're burned out on churches. The walk along the Lungomare is enjoyable. We rented a car in Salerno to go explore Matera and Puglia and that worked well. I wouldn't think of Salerno as a "must see" location but if you're visiting the area and want to stay in a less touristed location than on the Amalfi coast, it's an excellent choice.

Salerno is underrated.
Salerno is underrated. A good base to explore Pompeii (by train) and the Amalfi Coast (by ferry). Very attractive old town. Lots of staircases and narrow alleys to explore. The crypt of the Duomo is a must see. Cheaper and better accommodation/restaurants than in the Amalfi Coast. Connected by highspeed rail to Rome.

Unspoilt lively city where prices are still sensible, people are wonderfully helpful and courteous, old world Italy without the “don’t care” indifference of larger northern cities. Absolutely recommended as a base in Campania but beware the drivers !

Salerno has a rich history with lots to see.
Salerno has a rich history with lots to see. The only comment I would make is to not recommend it for those who are elderly or with disabilities. It’s a good location to take day trips to Amalfi and Positano from as well.

Everything: the room was very clean and had all we needed for a travelling family with pets including a balcony; the beds were very comfortable; the location was good, with walking distance to the lungomare and free parking space next to the b&b; the air conditioning was great too. The host was very nice, easy to reach, easy to talk to and very accomodating. It was very nice finding water in the fridge and coffee. If we ever come back to Salerno we’ll stay there again for sure.
We decided to stay a night in Salerno before going to the central station and a train to Napoli. We had been a week in the Amalfi coast and it was refreshing with a city with tourists mixing with inhabitants.
The hotel has a very good location and the reception is easy to find (located in a restaurant/bar) very close to the room.
All personnel was very friendly and helpful.
Salerno became a good acquaintance. 👍
Very nice place to stay, central to Salerno central. 10 mins from train 🚆
Room was spotless everyday.
Stefania was really nice and very helpful.
One bad point ....... be wary of the lift. Its kinda old and broke down between floors 😆 enroute to catch a train lol
Overall though would recommend the hotel.
It is the best hotel in Salerno. Nearby the sea, perfect location to the train station and bus station and ferry station by walking 5 min for all of them. Good price and breakfast included. Big thanks to the receptionist Antonio , he helped for every single thing.:))
The location of hotel is the best in Salerno. Both the port and the bus stop are close to the hotel.
The rooms was very clean and comfortable, check-in is very easy with lockbox of keys. The host let us to leave our luggage before check-in time.
