The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown
As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza drenched with vibrant pink blossoms, you might have to pinch yourself. The amazing location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.
But wait, there's more. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the largely intact Greek Theater has amazing views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Great summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars feature live music.
Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, with a clock tower and church overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.
A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the center of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the southwest, there's a long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and to the north is the bay by Mazzaró.

It’s just stunning one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to history shops beautiful food we will return. We treated ourselves to a meal in the bar at the grand hotel Timeo which is a night I will always remember- it was like stepping back in time we had mocktails 17euro they bring you snacks for free - the fillet steak was gorgeous was 40 euros really not bad for view and live music. The sea side towns are the best place to stay as
The sea side towns are the best place to stay as They are close to the beaches. Mazzaro has that cable car that goes up to Taormina so I highly recommend staying around that area and it’s close to the public beaches. Most beaches are private And a chair can cost a bit of money. I found the food to be expensive compared to other Sicilian sea side towns. Getting there if you don’t have a car was difficult as I found out from other travelers. The area is absolutely beautiful though and a must see if visiting Sicily I recommend 2 days is enough.Guest review byMariaAustralia - 10.0

The steps up to Taormina start right outside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel, there are plenty of very good restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We were very unlucky with the weather during our stay… very little sun and plenty of rain. not sure how common that is in early May but the hotel helped us make the best of it.
