The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Center with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Lights District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveler might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cozy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the center of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

    Amsterdam is definitely worth visiting.

Amsterdam is definitely worth visiting. It’s a beautiful and vibrant city with a lot of history and culture. Lot of sightseeing places but best to book in advance because they can be booked for months.

Loved Amsterdam. Beautiful, a bit trashy, city. Loved the buildings, the canals, the canal tours, amazing architecture, fabulous array of museums, just a really fun place to be. We stayed in the historic district at the Lastage Inn (highly recommend) close to everything.

This was my second time to Amsterdam.

This was my second time to Amsterdam. The first time, I came with friends in the winter. It was fun but the weather was very dull. The second time was a solo trip to see the tulips in spring and it was beautiful. Amsterdam is very easy to get around and walkable. There is lots to see. Some must sees are the tulips at Kuekenhof, Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House (book ahead for all). Walking the canals are also a must, they all look the same yet all have a different charm about them.

    What a city.

What a city. So easy to get around especially if you're fit and can cycle or walk. Public transport is plentiful and fun by way of tram, bus or train. There are restaurants from all over the world and if you're desperate there are McDonalds and Burger Kings! Museums also about and there's even one dedicated to cows. It was unique.

The hotel was well located, close to City Centre(12 minutes walk) and restaurants but on a quiet road. Beautifully decorated and very clean. Nice size room (booked a studio) and tasty breakfast. Not a huge choice but something for everybody and high quality. Free filtered water on tap. Mini bar/store for snacks etc at reception. Best part is the staffs were very friendly, professional and great host. Will definitely return if ever I pass by Amsterdam again.

We were upgraded for free to a view and king size bed which was greatly appreciated. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed ever stayed in. The location was perfect; close to Amsterdam Central Station for the Eurostar and the city centre. The room was of a good size for two of us. The staff that were encountered were all very friendly and helpful. Although spa/gym facilities were not used it was nice to have the option.

Fantastic location, a 6min train to the airport and super quick metro into the city centre. Perfect for us as a couple as privacy wasn’t really needed but for friends etc. may need your own rooms! Perfectly clean, very comfortable and quiet, loved all the modern amenities, the staff were friendly. We are already planning our next trip to Amsterdam and we’ll be back to this hotel for sure!

The mattress was extremely comfortable, all the staff members I interacted with were extremely friendly and professional. Although it’s not in the centre, the hotel is just a minute away from the metro station and you can be in Amsterdam city centre in less than 10 minutes. Breakfast also had good variety, though it was mostly cold food like bread, deli meats, and cereals.
