Love the harbour to walk round and the old town. There are also plenty of clothing shops, jewellery shops, and local gift stores. The passenger ferry from Fethiye to Calis has a regular service and the cycle path makes it easy to commute between the two resorts. We were there for a week's sailing holiday.
We were there for a week's sailing holiday. A week was enough for that, but I would liked to have stayed longer to see more of what was on offer on the land. Such as a trip up the highest mountain nearby, maybe do a scuba dive or two and one or two of the excursions into the surrounding countryside. I didn't see much of the town but what I did felt safe and welcoming. We tried out a few of the cafes and restaurants and couldn't fault them at all. The food was fresh, tasty and well prepared, the waiting staff very attentive. Prices were variable with some things very expensive and others more in line with my expectations. Fethiye is a real working town and in my opinion not a touristic place, Calis is the beach area for Fethiye and is the part to holiday at. The Taxi boat joins the two but as recently shot up in price to 150 lira making it a tourist attraction and not used by the locals. This is a great town to visit as it is a 'real' town and not just a tourist place - it has plenty of things to see and do, including boat trips, bike hire, parks, lots of eating places, and many shops. We were on a swim holiday so just catching the boat from Fethiye with a day either end of the swim holiday. The shopping is good but to be honest there isn't much else. The amphitheatre has been partially restored but no interpretation. You can see the castle but can't visit.
