Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

There are too many grumpy people there, however, one bus-driver was very kind and went out of his way to help us with directions.
Overall, I cannot understand why the US government does not provide a proper social security net for so many of its obviously poor and destitute people. It is depressing (and dangerous) to see so many homeless and mentally-ill people roaming the streets.
LAX airport is also a real bottleneck for smooth travelling.

It's a very big city! Lots of traffic back up because of construction everywhere! Hundreds of people everywhere! Great shopping and lots of places to eat a good meal. Even taxi services coming back!

great people watching, interesting culture, stayed near the grove and the teenager met a celeb there, the food was the best so far especially erawhan organic store, the uber service a bit hit and miss, dirty streets and homeless crackheads, cheap public transport. Love that everyone takes their dogs out and dogs are allowed everywhere. Not one dull moment in LA.

There was so much smog in the air.
There was so much smog in the air. You could smell the dirty air instantly. And the streets, buildings and land were dirty, gross and run down. I wouldn’t go outside to enjoy it leisurely. I would never stay there longer than I have to, only to visit the attractions I am there for and than I am out.

There’s so much to say about LA, definitely worth a visit.
There’s so much to say about LA, definitely worth a visit. There are many epic places to see and experience, especially the weather, beaches, and the city itself. However, the homelessness and drug situation across the state is really bad. They’re everywhere, and at times, as a solo traveler especially using the public transport mostly in the evening, I didn’t feel very comfortable.

Loved attending UCLA especially staying on campus, learning more about medical care for seniors. Swimming in the pool, walking the campus and remembering what an amazing experience I enjoyed at UCLA. Such an exceptional world class institution. But I still feel like it was the best education on Earth. So lucky!

The apartment was clean and spacious enough for our requirements, and a good base for the 5 minute walk to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, the ocean facing restaurants, and only a 10 minute further walk to the shopping areas and cheaper eating establishments for less formal dining. There's good Starbuck's 3 minute walk on the corner of Olympic and Main for breakfast bites and coffee. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.
Loved the pool area and a hotel bar is always a great bonus for travellers. The shuttle to Universal Studios was great and saved parking fees at the park. The staff were fantastic and the cost wasn't bad relative to alternatives albeit it certainly isn't cheap. Great location for Universal and Warner Bros. The onsite restaurant is also a decent and convenient option.
An excellent hotel near Los Angeles Airport, perfect for those on a layover or adjusting to the time zone. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the location is quiet. The airport-hotel transfer worked perfectly. Overall, it’s a great hotel with good value for those wanting to stay close to the airport.
Good quality hotel , nice & clean. 1.5 miles from santa monica pier area so need to have car or use Lyft but still cheaper to stay here and pay for taxis than stay nearer pier area. Friendly staff and free basic breakfast. Comfy queen size beds
Position is very good in West Hollywood. Staff was at disposal for any request, parking is just below the hotel and cheaper than other properties.
Pool is nice too ;)
