FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Town is an amazing place! The food and wine is fantastic and very reasonably priced with various excellent restaurants and coffee shops. We moved around with Uber - fast and simple. The views in and around the city is magnificent. There is so much to do - you can spend weeks here without running out of things to do...:-)

Great place to visit. You need a car and travel all around.

Great place to visit. You need a car and travel all around. There seem to have many countries in one......the city, shopping at V&A, Canal Walk,.... the different places such as BoKaap. The beaches (Camps Bay, Muizenberg, Nordhooek, Gordon's Bay),..... the small villages like Pater Noster, Fish Hoek, the cliffs like Chapman's Peak, Betty's Bay, Hermanus,.... the mountains, the great Table Mountain,......the vineyards like Franschhoek,...... the capes, Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope. The animals, ostriches, penguins (Boulder's Bay) not forgetting the safaris. Delicious foods and wines. Bo-vine wine and Grill House, delicious steaks. DeSee Kat Restaurant in Pater Noster... such amazing sea foods.

The Tokyo is an amazing aparthotel offering the convenience of an apartment while having access to amenities such as a restaurant, a rooftop pool, and a gym area. It's in a central part of Cape Town which offers easy access to the Waterfront, Cape Town International Conference Centre, and many restaurants, clubs, and fast food establishments. Getting an Uber took less than 2 mins and walking at night was a safe experience - ended up getting food at 2 AM without fear. I would definitely book this aparthotel again.

Very clean apartments...found new items that are trendy and unique. Mauline, the owner, was super friendly and great sense of humour. She helped us book her apartments a second time when almost all hotels in Cape Town were fully booked...really grateful for this gesture. Great wifi signal and smart TV allowed us to watch our local channels from back home in Zambia 😊
