The whole experience from the ferry ride, meandering along windy roads whilst taking in the magnificent tropical views to our destination was fascinating.
The 2023 December cyclone caused chaos with the roads eroding & severely damaged, there are traffic management staff all the way with single lanes & traffic lights along cape tribulation road.
Well worth a visit to support the local businesses & Heritage Lodge staff were amazing & our evening dinners were 5 star restaurant

2 indigenous tour / learn to spear fish & other indigenous ways, look for different bush foods,
3. Bruce belcher croc trip, mossman gorge and cultural tour by indigenous leader
4. Pt Douglas, reef trip, shopping or day spa!
5. Daintree Village ferry and high-top walk way
6. Go see Donna at Daintree Wild and hear about her fabulous stories of running the old zoo, which is now a bed and breakfast! Injured Emus in cars, wild wombats and an attack by a cassowary and the people who were scared to go into their room because there was a small green tree snake 30 m away on the balcony!!

Daintree was lovely and we enjoyed birdwatching, exploring some of the surrounding tracks and, particularly, an early-morning birding trip on the Daintree River. However, we changed our plans and stayed in Port Douglas which was close enough to allow daily trips to Daintree but had better - and better value - hotels, a choice of restaurants and so on.

A wonderful experience in the Daintree and Cape Trib.
A wonderful experience in the Daintree and Cape Trib. We missed the Cassowary Falls as they wanted $59 per adult to enter. So sadly, no where nearby for a free swim in the heat. Ferry over the river was $45 return which is pricey for a 2 minute trip across. The DVH Pub over the road had great bar staff with meals and drinks very affordable and yummy. The manager even put the T20 world cup cricket final on the TV for us. The café at Thornton Beach had great views and tasty sour dough sandwiches. Recommend a stop at the Daintree Ice-cream park too as they were fantastic flavors and only $7.50 for a tub of four varieties!

Beautiful, amazing and peaceful, we loved the Daintree.
Beautiful, amazing and peaceful, we loved the Daintree. Can't wait to visit again. Cassowary falls was amazing and I would recommend the Eco Lodge for dinner. Unfortunately we missed out on daintree icecream but won't next visit. Dave at Solarwhisper tours was amazing with his personal knowledge of the local crocs and wildlife. Swimming in the Emmagen creek was fun, we should have gone to the blue holes for a swim but will have too next time also. Highly recommended sailaway tours to Mackay Cay for a great reef experience.

Great walks .
Daintree village closed for dinner . Barge stops at midnight, so get your stuff sorted before you leave it to late
Hard to get anything after dark .
I would pack food next time I head that way ,
Sandfly’s happy to pick you up and take you to your next location 🤨
Nice drive from port Douglas to cape tribulation, roads were all quite good .
Nice place to visit .
Greg has done a great job to make his accommodations completely off the grid and eco sustainable. The cabins are well appointed, roomy, and very comfortable. There is a large community area with a billiards table and swimming pool. Food and beverage is also available on site which is very convenient in this rural, yet exquisitely beautiful part of the country. We enjoyed listening to Greg’s stories about his varied adventures abroad as well as appreciated his skills in the kitchen- providing delicious meals with generous portions.
everything!!! new chalet with amazing views, high end appliances (bed, hot tub spa, TV, Bluetooth speaker) and delicious breakfast and full kitchen and grill to cook! stocked fridge and the nicest, friendliest and most accommodating hosts possible! do the waterfall tour - amazing!! can’t wait to come back. highly recommend! traveled the entire eastern Australian coast on our honeymoon and this was our favorite place. so relaxing
The picturesque location very much gave us the rainforest experience. Our hosts were very welcoming , understanding and hospitable, their local knowledge was invaluable and we enjoyed socialising with them.
The breakfasts were excellent, fresh and used local produce. Nothing was a problem
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, the bed exceptionally comfortable and we had the amenities we needed
It is a lovely, quaint hotel in the middle of the Daintree. The natural swimming hole exceptional - much better than masons in cape Trib (coopers much clearer water and accessible). We felt very fortunate to have found this place! We were a group of 14 and took up 4 cabins all next to one another. Dinner at turps was also fantastic and one of the better options compared to others in the area
Best accommodation in Daintree, super clean and welcoming. The owner Greg is a cool engineer who built all the place by himself. This handyman will make you even a great breakfast in the morning letting u try the fruit of the Rainforest too. Really yummy😋
The place is magic and the company of the owner even more, we will surely come back💚
Location was perfect for being able to take the river cruises out of Daintree Village. The room wasn't huge, but it had everything we needed, with a big deck outside from which to watch the river. The owner was more than helpful and so nice too. The food at the hotel across the road was great and so convenient.
Location was within walking distance to all attractions. Barry and Di were exceptional hosts with great knowledge of the local fauna and flora. The rooms were above and beyond. The breakfasts were just next level nothing was to much trouble I highly recommend this accommodation and will definitely return 😎
We stayed at Cloud 9 because it offered a unique experience close to nature and we particularly loved the birdsong at dawn and dusk. Like the house (which he built), Gerald is a unique and interesting character with plenty of fascinating insights on the Daintree rainforest and much more.
The dinner was superb and well priced for the portion size. The accommodation looks pretty from the outside and had potential to be a lovely place. Good views and comfortable bed (once you deal with the ant infestation under the covers!) I can’t say anything else positive though.
The property was just what we expected - a nice group of bungalows tucked into the rainforest. The staff were great and really made us feel very welcome. They were also very helpful in planning our day trips. It’s location was very convenient for exploring the Daintree area.
Absolutely awesome views, best in the Daintree!!!!! Gorgeous home and Gerry the host is super friendly, interesting and very informative and helpful with things to see and do in the area, fantastic communication and willing to go above and beyond to make your stay special.
If you attend a Bird Watching tour, don't drive super early in the morning from Cairns, this is the place to stay! The boat leaves right in front of this lodge and it was convenient. There's nothing fancy in the room but it satisfies our basic needs.
Everything!!! The accommodation was beautiful right in the middle of the rainforest with a bath on the deck. We watched the rain patter down the tropical leaves as we sipped a drink in the warm bath. So restful...
The location, accommodation and hospitality were all exceptional. Andrew and Liz went above and beyond to make our stay special and gave us an experience we won't forget.
The location was perfect for exploring the Daintree area.
large covered deck areas so you could still be outside enjoying nature when it is raining. Lovely grounds.
