We are Lutherans from USA. It was amazing to be in Wittenberg and see the churches and panorama, Unfortunately the Augustinian Monastery was closed for renovation. The Christmas market was a pleasant surprise. We should have known, but we know a LITTLE German, but being in former East Germany, there are FEW English speakers over 40.

Wittenberg is a wonderful place between Berlin and Leipzig...
Wittenberg is a wonderful place between Berlin and Leipzig on the railway, there are lot of history in the town and a great visit to the 360 history of Wittenberg. people keep themselves private and hardly talk but are very helpful if you need help, if you visit this place it is better to learn some German as only a small amount of folks speak English. good time to visit Christmas markets, 31st October plus a few more events. Most of all it is a very clean place and good for bike rides.

We stayed in Lutherstadt Wittenberg for 2 nights.
We stayed in Lutherstadt Wittenberg for 2 nights. We travelled by train and took the bus (#300 or 301) to the Markt Platz, the center of the Old Town. The Tourist Information office has a great audio guide that takes you to all of the points/places of interest while explaining the history of the city. The Luther Haus and Melanchthon Haus are must-sees as are the churches. Check out the free organ concerts at the Castle Church!

it's a wonderful place with lots to see, in some places it is like stepping back in time in the center go outside the middle of town you will see poorly kept roads and paths.
wonderful history and old buildings and a few green areas where you can relax, unfortunately, some folks like to spray paint things, there is a mirror park with lots of history covered with spray paint. there is some wonderful art on buildings around the town.
Like any other place you go these days, there are lots of closed shops and thankfully did not see any Subways, Burger King, or Mc D. lot of good food outlets and to our surprise there was a "Woolworth" in the town

Lovely taken care of city center.
Lovely taken care of city center. More a long stretched center then a tiny close one.
About 3-4 cocktails bars. Lots of well designed interior restaurants. You just wanted to eat in there just to sit in there.
Great pizzeria "Lido" baking in Italian oven in front of your eyes. The restaurant is in an old butchery including some of the old tiled artwork. Beautiful to look at.
Great Indian restaurant "Taj Mahal". Authentic cuisine served in metal containers. Some meals were beautifully sizzling when fresh. A great sight.
Due to corona the city was not overrun by tourist buses. Everything felt very welcoming. No queues. But at night fairly quiet as well probably due to corona. But I guess also as a lot of people also live in the city centre, so you cannot make that much noise from 10pm onwards by law.
Lots of historical sights in relation to the Luther times to whom it is of interest.

Time only allowed a superficial tour, we hope to return.
Time only allowed a superficial tour, we hope to return. The sight was beautiful, but a fairly late (10:00am) opening pressed our limited schedule.
Saw enough of town and Church to know we want to return, and will plan at least 2 full days.

Can't ask for a better location. Hotel does have a lift, if needed. Breakfast had excellent choices and a espresso/latte machine, eggs to order. Yes, the building is old - hello, what do you expect in Wittenburg? But, the room we had facing the square was very clean, modern bath (great shower), and comfortable. Parking is in rear of hotel...gate will open, but they will give you a token to get out. Kartoffel restaurant next door was exceptional (except your clothes might smell like the grill the next day)
We loves the charm and antiquity of the building and the backyard, which is also the access to the Cranach house.
The receptionist was also very nice and helpful. Provided us with lots of tips for what to do in the city and around, and handed us tasty freshly-baked cinnamon mini-cakes :)
The breakfast was the best we had in a long time at a hotel. It was arranged very nicely and the quality and taste were amazing!
The room was perfect for our one night stay and such a great price. The hotel owner was such a joy! She was very gracious with us checking in so late and even let us park at the hotel after we checked out so we could explore without having to find alternate parking. Breakfast was included which was a surprise to me and it was delicious and very filling! Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Location in the middle of the old town.
A clean and tidy hotel in a beautiful and well renovated building.
The historical and calm ambience was very calming.
Note that this is a Herberge, don’t expect anything luxurious! There are rooms for reading/studying and for cooking, so this is a practical accommodation. No TV in the rooms, use your spare time outside :)
Very good breakfast, but the best feature is the location and the historic building in which the hotel is situated. From our room we could see the Church door where Luther's manifesto had been affixed, and the building dates back to 1340. The room was huge, with high ceilings and many windows overlooking the historical centre.
Excellent location to walk to all of the sites in Wittenberg. Food was delicious. Rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. Staff was welcoming and friendly; even holding our backpacks on our last day so we could explore before catching our train without lugging them around. We’d highly recommend Marta’s Hotel!
This is a very nice hotel in an excellent location! It is a short walk to the train station (about 8 minutes) and an even shorter walk to the Lutherhaus / end of the old city (about 3 minutes). The staff were very friendly and accommodating. If I am ever in Wittenburg again I will definitely stay at the ACRON.
Great hotell for families. Large garden in the back and another playground around the corner. Good value for money when transiting in Germany. Food was very good and staff very friendly and helpful.
the hotel is in a very quite place, the check in process was excellent for us since we arrive very late in the evening,
parking space is available no problem. very happy with that hotel and staff!
Right in the heart of Lutherstadt in Wittenberg. Close to tons of great restaurants and historical sites. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go! The views from the room were amazing!
Small quiet hotel with large clean rooms, excellent beds and bedding, good showers, and great air conditioning. Located a few minutes walk from all the Wittenberg sites and restaurants.
The proximity to the town centre was excellent. The room was small but quiet & it had the bonus of an air conditioner. The secure parking was down a quiet lane in front of the hotel.
Cosy hotel with a possibility of parking, close to the historic center. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, offered a take away breakfast as we wanted to leave very early!
Fine hotel with good breakfast and nice facilities. Helpful staff. Great situation right in the centre of the town. Secure garage available for storing bicycles.
