I visited 30 years ago, then the locals just dropped rubbish everywhere, this seems to have stopped. Leave plenty of time if you want to walk the Avenue of the Sphinx, some information boards helped you undertand what you were looking at, restoration work is ongoing, walk around the sides first and enter from the back, in a courtyard, you can see where the Romans plastered over the wall art and put there own.

Interesting but quite difficult to understand because of a lack of knowledge of Egyptyan history. Even if you have a guide it is difficult to remember what it is you have seen. There is very little effort in trying to make it an educational experience which you can remember.

Luxor temple is a must visit.
Luxor temple is a must visit. It's the biggest one and is absolutely fascinating. Even though we started quite early in the morning, there were already groups, however we still managed to get some nice photos without the crowds.
I'd recommend to visit with a tour guide to understand what are you looking at.

The Egyptian people are charming and kind but be warned they will take advantage of you regarding your money and tend to be aggressive in Luxor. As a solo traveler do not go to Luxor Temple alone at night. In order to walk the avenue you must pay an entrance fee to Luxor and Karnak. I wanted to walk from Luxor Temple to Karnak Temple by the Avenue of the Sphinx but there was an event happening at Luxor Temple and hours where shortened.

We stayed at the large two bedroom flat, the larger bedroom was quiet and comfortable, all the facilities needed are in the apartment, laundry included. There is a grocery store about a minute walk across the main street, and a local fast food place next to it. Easy to get to Karnak and Luxor Temples.
The hotel was very nice for our price; it had a nice pool, nice rooms, and a great location.
It was within walking distance of the Luxor temple; they had a little shopping center with an ATM where we could exchange dollars for Egyptian pounds. The restaurant served Egyptian food, and you have to try the dessert "Kunafa." It was AMAZING! most of you stay here.
Breakfast was very good and the overall experience was a good value. It was located on the Nile River directly across from Luxor Temple. Our 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious and roomy.
Nice hotel near the Luxor temple. You can enjoy nice view of Luxor temple and the Nile on the roof of the hotel. Nice breakfast and comfortable bed. You can order dinner at the hotel. It has delicious taste and supreme service. The staff of the hotel is really helpful.
The owner was extremely helpful in booking a Nile River cruise. The hostel was very sociable, with a rooftop area to hang out and meet other travelers. Breakfast was included, good A/C and decent wifi. It has a great location in the center of Luxor, making it easy to walk to all the attractions on the east bank, e.g., Luxor Temple, Karnak, etc.
The management is excellent, Ashaf is always willing to help and reply very fast. He help us to coordinate tours and Fellucas to cross to the other side.
The apartment has good space, wifi was the best we had in Egypt, the beds and pillows were comfortables and we had a big fridge.
In the corner there is a mini market and a pharmacy is just 100 mts away. Easy to cross to Luxor temple by Felluca and 15 min to Valley of the kings.
Breakfast was traditional egyptian, spreadable cheese, fried eggs, tomato, cucumber and dates.
Best hotel in all of Egypt. Bed was comfy, no traffic noise, breakfast was the best we have had, restaurant was best by Luxor's hotels standards, staff were extraordinarily helpful - they have very good prices for every thing, in the middle area near to the airport and train station, luxor temple and karnak and ferry boat, also local transportation
Thank you for fresh welcome drink and fruit basket
· I really loved the restaurant where they served breakfast and lunch/dinner. I was able to watch the balloons in the morning from the west bank. You can walk across the street to Luxor temple which I liked as well. Wael, the receptionist was super helpful and they also helped us hold luggage in the lobby while we explored our extra day. The value for this hotel is really great and one of our favorite places we stayed in Egypt.

Best hotel that we stayed in Egypt (out of 4). Everything was good. Staff was polite and helpful. We got an upgrade to the best part of the complex. The hotel is old, but well maintained. Very luxurious. Garden and pool areas are just beautiful. You can walk to Luxor temple.
