Rebuilt and reworked many times over, the best parts of the Cathedral are the Romanesque Cloister (columns and capitals unfortunately much ruined) and in its Museum the extraordinary Tapis de la Creation, a 11th century needlework tapestry, defenitely worth seeing.

To visit Girona is to stay in the old historic part of of the city and Girona Cathedral is the perfect place to stay. It captures the beauty and history of the area. Built in the 1400s, it is a spectacular stone walled apartment with a vaulted stone ceiling. The bathroom is stunning. A stone staircase leading up to the bathroom, featuring an incredible stone encased shower. The entire apartment is romantic, super comfortable and embodies the charm and history of the old city.

We were steps away from Girona Cathedral, and right in the middle of the Gothic district. The room had plenty of space and was stocked with coffee, tea, and muffins. Having the refrigerator and microwave was convenient. Laundry facilities were in a common hallway.
