    I loved it!

I loved it! Please get yourself to where the "Keage" subway station street entrance is. It is a 19th century brick structure. It took me a while to find the beginning of this walk--from Nanzen-Ji Temple > Kotoku-an > Nanzen-Ji Oku-no-in >Eikan-Do >Path of Philosophy >Honen-in then Ginkaku-Ji. This was a highlight of my month in Japan.

Going during the Sakura bloom is the best way to enjoy this place. It can be packed of people, but the walk is long so you'll be able to enjoy it. You can see Koi fish in the river and there are some small local shops you should visit to get some food and/or souvenirs.

    A beautiful meandering walk.

A beautiful meandering walk. Go to the beautiful garden of Ginkakuji first and then walk on along the stream. Good at any time of year, spring would be manic I think so dont limit the experience to cherry blossoms. At the end it is a short stroll westwards to the Heian Jingu

There aren't really shops along this walk - so don't expect to do it with a coffee in hand or anything. It's a nice walk, very quite & was more of a 'stroll through the neighbourhood along a storm drain' type of thing. Worth doing if you have the time; but if you're pushed for time, I'd skip it

Utterly superb! Lots of cherry blossom when we went.

Utterly superb! Lots of cherry blossom when we went. Ensure you visit every temple along the way. We started at the north end at Ginkakuji [Silver Pavilion] which, if you like Japanese gardens, is unmissable - probably the highlight for me.
