Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short.
Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short. There is a lot to see, especially around the cultural area, including the Värmlands Museum and Sandgrund Lars Lerin. And pleasant strolls along the river and canals.

Karlstad is the biggest little city in Sweden and a joy to visit. What other city with <100,000 population even has its own opera house and cathedral? The lakeside setting where Klarälven meets Lake Vänern is gorgeous. There's lots to see and do within the city, even as it is very human-sized and walkable.

Beautiful city with awesome nature, beaches, coffee stops,...
Beautiful city with awesome nature, beaches, coffee stops, nice restaurants, especially Mariebergskogen with small animal and birds and museum, garden, playground in it with fancy train only for sightseeing was awesome. Friendly people and good communication. Luckily we were not sick because I am not looking forward to visit the hospital "centralsjukhuset Karlstad".
We chose this hotel as a stop over between Stockholm and Oslo. The room was a little small and as it come with half board, we had dinner at the hotel, which was average. Although I wasn't expecting a 5 star dinner at least it would have being good for the main course (it was a salad and 1 main) to be tasty. The parking wasn't located next to the hotel but 150 mts (not a deal breaker) however not an accurate description. For 1 night it is OK however wouldn't consider for longer stays.
We liked the helpful staff at the reception desk as well as the staff at the kitchen. We got plenty of information about bicycle tours around Karlstad and flyers and maps we could use for our tour. The breakfast was enough and staff always paid attention that we get served everything.
The rooms were spacious, modern and very clean. We could park our car and bicycles for free in front of the room. The parking lot is a big plus. We hope to return there again.
The best feature of this old city hotel is the outdoor dining with a view over the mighty Klarälven. That river, called Trysilelva in Norway where it has its source, is the longest in Scandinavia. Alongside the river runs the local cruising strip where the hillbillies creep in their American Classics on which they have worked for countless hours in the hope that the Karlstad beauties, and there are many such, may take a shine to them.
The staff of the hotel is very welcoming, polite, friendly and responsive. For example, I have asked about options to dine out in the area and received a thorough and helpful advice. Both the room and the public spaces of the hotel are very clean and well maintained. The room that I had was big, comfortable and very good value-for-money. The large free parking in front of the hotel is a big plus.
I think the hotel has great potential. The bathroom was newly renovated and it looked great! However, the room itself consists of old furniture that don’t really match. The hotel has a really nice warm jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a pool. We had a great time relaxing in the morning and it was not overly crowded.
We booked 4 double rooms and 1 pet friendly room. They were all very different. Two of them were light and spacious and the others felt a bit darker since they were on the right hand side of the hotel. Breakfast room was very pretty and the food was good. Friendly staff. Nice rooftop with pool.
I liked everything including the huge big pillow 😄 unique hotel with a historical museum. The breakfast was good and the hotel is located in the city. Also, a big thank you to Ann from the reception. She helped us a lot regarding our problems with an airline.
Good location - very close to the city center.
Dinner and breakfast were included in the room rate.
Room was spacious and clean. OK for one night stay.
Staff is very friendly and smiling. Ready to answer all the questions and assist.
The place has everything you need. I was really happy with how big was the apartment. It can easily accommodate 4 or 5 people. The hosts were very nice and helpful. I can recommend this place if you want to stay in Karlstad
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They would answer any question. The family room was great, the kids loved it. Very clean in all the parts of the hotel.
I enjoyed Karlstad and neighbourhood was very friendly and quiet. Kitchen corner was a little misleading, but was enough for me. Enough space for 2 people.
