The location is excellent. Berlin is a bit large to walk everywhere, but to enjoy the sights of the central city, the Chateau Royal is nicely situated and near train and metro stations. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. My only concern was that, though we enjoyed our meals and drinks at the hotel, the pricing on the breakfast and dinner menus are a bit high.

Charming hotel in a great location. The staff was very nice and welcoming especially considering they were working during a holiday. The room was comfortable and the desk gave us as much coffee as we asked for. We also had a perfect little private parking space in the back yard so we didn't have to worry about our car.

Nice location in a nice, walkable neighborhood. The M2 tram stop is just half a block away, providing easy public transit access to other parts of the city (usually via the Alexanderplatz station). Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities are a little worn, but comfortable.

A wonderful place, but astonishingly disorganised.
A wonderful place, but astonishingly disorganised.
The staff were astonishingly grumpy and unhelpful, and really made it clear they didn't want to help, in any way.
Also, one needs to lock up all drinks and one cannot go to the cafe to get a drink, so they expect you to spend 3,4 or more hours without a drink... it is quite poor.
The museum itself is brilliant, it's why I came to Berlin. Just a shame the museum cannot get its act together in terms of helping people, and organising themselves.

Book a time slot well in advance, otherwise you will queue for hours. If visiting more than one museum on Insel - invest in a museum pass and combine with a Berlin pass for about 55 euros for a brilliant time/ money saver.

If you see nothing else here, you really should see the Ishtar Gates. Purchased and moved to Berlin, sandbagged and walled in during the war to prevent damage from teh bombing, this exhibit is stunning.
