Lovely historic Inn set on the High Street in Horndon. Still run by the Vereker family after 3 generations.
We had a nice meal in the bar where our dog was able to join us. Very obliging staff. Great to bump into friends from my childhood in the village. Good selection of real ales.

Well I got a very unprofessional treatment from the receptionist, I was adjudged to have smoked in the room the last time I booked the hotel and even though I had explained severally that I didn’t smoke and I had booked for someone who seem to have smoked, she treated me really sourly and canceled my reservation immediately leaving me stranded.
This luxury 4-star hotel is located just 1 mile from Brentwood Train Station, junction 28 of the M25 motorway, junction 11 of the A12, and Brentwood's central High Street.
