Angkor Wat
This epic temple is so revered in Cambodia it appears on the country’s flag. Built during the 12th-century heyday of the Khmer Empire, it was first dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before becoming a Buddhist temple. In terms of size and complexity, you can’t help but be bowled over by its barrage of giant moats, steep walls and lofty beehive-like towers.

Wonderful site.
Wonderful site. The biggest and best preserved relic of that era hundreds of years ago. Most of the time one can escape the crowds and have some moments of peace, especially away from the center of the site.

This is an amazing place that should be visited several times. The government managed tourist pass can cover three days which provides access to the temple area of Seim Reap. I recommend a first visit with a government registered guide. Then return on later days to wander and really immerse yourself in the history. Make sure your camera is ready to take a lot of photos because you will find yourself snapping shots very quickly and often.

Choose a sun rise tour.
Choose a sun rise tour. I would recommend to get a 3 day pass. Day one go for a short circuit sun rise tour.
Day 2 go for a long circuit guided tour.
On the day 3, rent a bike and explore the place yourselves.

I hired a tuktuk to get to the temple at dawn to watch the sun rises behind the temple. I love that experience of capturing the sun rising along with hundreds of other tourists. Later I strolled inside the temple complex listening to live traditional music performed by local groups.
Mesmerising experience!

Go Early!
Go Early! The heat, humidity, and crowds can get you if your not careful, take plenty of water. Buy your tickets the day before and carry your passport with you as regular checks are made against the ticket names. Hire a Tuk-tuk and a three-day ticket to see many more temples (some are just as amazing as Ankor Wat!

Great location and service; always greeted with a smile. The Angkor museum is right across the street and is a must visit before going to Angkor Wat. Breakfast has good variety. Also booked a sunrise tour with the hotel's own tuktuk driver for very decent price.
Staff is super friendly, you can arrange everything you need via the hotel, very comfortable bed, good location (quiet, short tuktuk from Angkor Wat and city and there’s always a tuktuk available
Wonderful visit to Siem Reap. So glad we added this visit and chose this hotel. Rooms and bathroom beautiful, calming and spacious. Very comfortable bed. Staff is incredible, very friendly, cheerful and eager to assist. So accommodating. Great location. Felt safe walking. Balcony was nice but too hot to enjoy. Booked 5am tour to see sunrise at Angkor Wat and delicious custom breakfast box was in lobby waiting. Beautiful pool and restaurant. Hope to return again for longer stay. Great value
If I could give this hotel a rating beyond 10, I would. It was exceptional. The staff were very kind and helpful throughout our stay. We booked the sunrise tour at Angkor Wat in one of their vintage cars, which was amazing. The breakfast was cooked a la carte each day and was delicious. I will definitely be staying here again!
The hotel was very comfortable, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much of a problem. They even let us stay longer in our room on the day of checkout because our flight was mid afternoon. We had an early morning start (4:30am) to Angkor Wat and they made us a picnic breakfast to take with. The pool was lovely and very clean and had a lovely ambience about it. I'd definitely recommend.
Our two-night stay at Sofitel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, was unforgettable. Located just moments from Angkor Wat, it provided the perfect base for exploring the wonders of the ancient temples. The accommodations were luxurious, the staff incredibly friendly and attentive, and the facilities top-notch. Highly recommend this hotel for an exceptional Cambodian retreat.
We felt very welcomed at this hotel, the staff were amazing. We loved the cold towels and drink every time we came back to the hotel. They also arranged a private tour for us to Angkor Wat with a brilliant guide and driver. This was so much better than being on a group tour.
We would happily stay again.
I love the location along the ways to Angkor wat just next to National Museum very close to the city. hotel itself is very nice and clean staff was incredible and kind always welcome and smile good for its price
Dee and her husband run this wonderful accommodation. She could not do enough for us and gave us loads of information for the rest of our Cambodia trip. They also run tours to Angkor Wat and the floating markets from here. All staff are extremely friendly and Chanthou always greeted us with a smile. We had a nice spacious room. The hostel is a 3 minute walk from the busy Pub Street and Night Markets. I would highly recommend this hostel for its location and staff.
Amazing hostel for a ridiculously low price. The staff is kind and welcoming, the breakfast is perfectly fine, the free filtered cold water on the hallway is wonderful, the rooms are spacious enough. It really feels more like a hotel than a hostel. They also help with tours to Angkor Wat (which are also inexpensive!)

we then had to watch many programmes on Angkor Wat to find out what we had just seen
Do take a guided tour of the temples but not with Siem Reap Shuttle Tours - such an amazing place to visit with so much to learn and discover...shame we had the tour guide from "I don't like you because you won't buy the expensive lunch on offer" so he from then on hardly spoke to us! Incredibly rude and spoilt what should have been one of our best explorations. Out of eight people on the tour we were the only two to stick it out till the end as we only had the one day to see as much as we could...we then had to watch many programmes on Angkor Wat to find out what we had just seen! A big shame.
