Bourbon Street is for sure an interesting place, and it is also extremely crowded and noisy. I am not sure how anybody can keep up a normal conversation while walking down the street. There are basically all types of music played, maybe 4 or 5, individuals or group, on both sides of a the same sidewalk.
Also just about everybody warns tourists of unsafe the street is as soon as the sun is down--which in winter means past 5PM. We did not experience , nor did we see/witness any criminal activity, though. Police is there too, watching, on street corners.

Whatever you do, if you decide to bring children to NOLA, especially children that are still in strollers, do not take a child's stroller to Bourbon street, especially at night. I wouldn't say it's dangerous, but rather really not appropriate for kids to be on Bourbon street and there is often very loud music playing from the bars and street performers that might be tough on little ears. Plus, there are usually some people that are very intoxicated walking around and do you want that around your child(ren)?

This is my second time here on Bourbon St first time was in the mid of the pandemic. The second time was nothing like the first time. There was so many people having a good time drinking dancing and just talking loud. I loved every minute of it

Although the French Quarter is interesting, Bourbon Street is a mess. It is dirty and smells terrible and worse than many of the Third World Countries I have visited. Even a police officer I talked to recommended avoiding Bourbon Street.
The French Quarter has some of the best food I have ever eaten and street performers are great but stay away from Bourbon Street.

It’s good to walk along there and people watch, it’s mainly drunk tourists but fun to watch the guys working on the street trying to hustle as well, there’s some real characters. Plenty more great places to visit in the city though

Please be prepared to pay at least $25 per day for parking. Get a hotel close to wear you'll be touring and walk each day. Everything is in walking distance which is good for site seeing and waking off all of that deliciousness.

If you want to be close to the Bourbon Street action but in a quiet room, this hotel is for you. Recently renovated, the rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated. We had an interior room, with the window facing an inner courtyard area, so we heard no street noise at all.
The staff at the front desk were all wonderful - welcoming, helpful and very personable. Each person had great recommendations for food, sight seeing, etc. The location was perfect. Easy walking distance to just about everything. The bed was comfy and the room and hotel interior and courtyard were a peaceful respite from Bourbon street.
We chose Le Marais for its value and location, and it did not disappoint. We were pleasantly surprised how quite it was considering how close it is to Bourbon Street. We highly recommend this hotel.
Great location . Tram stop right outside the hotel which takes you down to bourbon street and the French quarter .
Nice basic breakfast and good parking . Helpful and friendly staff .
So lovely local bar / restaurants with live music once you have visited the madness of Bourbon street.
Absolutely gorgeous area.
I was in room 3341 and it was comfortable for me. I will stay at this Hotel again and I love the location. I was able to walk to many of the places I wanted to go to. Love that is right at Bourbon Street.
I like the location of this hotel (close to Bourbon Street). The room and bathroom was clean. The front desk staff were friendly and took care of my needs.
The location was absolutely perfect. Jackson Sq is a 30 second walk. Bourbon Street is less than 2 minutes. The hotel definitely has that New Orleans vibe to it. The courtyard is super charming.
