Too bad the city is run-down with an enormous vagrant population. Tent cities on nearly every sidewalk. Drunk/drugged staggering vagrants everywhere you turn. This is a Capital city and should be providing for their homeless population better than this. Time to get some services going !!

I enjoyed the Delta King Hotel on the river.
I enjoyed the Delta King Hotel on the river. The small cabin (room) was comfortable. The dining on board was exquisite! I highly recommend it. Staying on the restored paddle boat was the reason for stopping in Sacramento. It didn't disappoint! Old Sacramento is a lovely place to walk around in. There is a place for delicious ice cream.

There was free overnight parking after around 4:30-6pm, otherwise meters. There is a paddlewheeler hotel and restaurant rigth in Old Town at dock, the Delta King, with TERRIFIC mouthwatering breakfast included. Tiny cabin but no parking in the river of course. lol. Lots of wonderful eats and cool touris shops. Small so walkable and cool breezes off the riverside views.

If you want to have your car stolen and see hundred of drug deals right in front of you then this is the place. Horrible! Homeless people everywhere, normally i would not mention, but they come up to you endlessly, they try to open your car. My children witnessed them pooping on the sidewalk and one shooting up heroine at the State Capital! Yeah golden state my butt. Just aviod. This place has gone to hell.

Parking is also available at the basement of the hotel building. And then I love the refreshments provided throughout the day. Coffee in the morning and some juice/wine and snacks in the afternoon.
