Everest Boutique Hotel is a small, very friendly and well-managed hotel in Kathmandu's Thamel district, from where all sorts of attractions and activities are easy to reach, partly on foot. The place is safe and quiet, with a nice rooftop terrace. Breakfast offers various choices and is good. The manager is very helpful. I appreciated the complimentary airport pick-up and/or drop-off service (either or per stay). Wifi connections were flawless.

Comfortable bed, modern design in the room, good AC system (cold air), friendly staff, location was on the outskirts of Thamel so it wasn't as crazy or busy outside, meaning it was easier to find.

Mostly stayed in Thamel tourist area and ate at many local spots: House of MoMo, Third Eye, Yok Bar were all great! But careful as some of the menu descriptions can be a little misleading. Ex: I received a 'chicken skewer' meal that was NOTHING like described. It was even missing the skewers. But the staff was extremely helpful and eager to please.
The traffic/driving is crazy! Mopeds/motorbikes are high percentage of use, with automobiles being less visible in the high tourist areas. It is REALLY dusty everywhere. Wear a mask or buff if you have allergy/breathing issues.
Always carry your own TP if you're not used to using squatty potty's and bidets!

Historic city even for now, not much modernisation so be prepared. V religious experience for esp hindus and Buddhists, a spiritual city in the main. Few tourist areas are awesome, site seeing around city can be done in a day or two. Taxis not cheap. Out of town tours or taxis are worth for spiritual understanding. Everest flight is a worthy trip but pricey. All in all 3-4 days in city is enough.

Start by visiting Darbar Square.
Start by visiting Darbar Square. There is a restaurant named Sasatawa at Kirtipur. They serve traditional foods at affordable prices. Pashupatinath Mandir is amazing in the evening. However, air pollution is something to be careful of.

During my visit to Kathmandu, I stayed at Hotel Lakhey, whose convenient location made shopping and exploring the city effortless. The bustling streets were filled with vibrant markets, offering traditional crafts and souvenirs. Kathmandu itself is rich in cultural heritage, with ancient temples, historic sites, and the lively atmosphere of Durbar Square reflecting its deep-rooted history.

Situated in the thamel area my garden house is amongst the best hotels I had experienced with beautiful garden ,clean and neat rooms hotel staffs are very helpful and most amazing thing is food which was best .and main thing is the transportation which you can find very easily just one minute to reach tourist bus station .
nice hotel, staff is very warm and welcoming (although all Nepalese people are :) ), location is amazing - quiet street in thamel, but 100m walking to the center and all the mess of Kathmandu. Not really a realistic rating, but comparing to the other stays in Nepal (we spent a month there) one of the best.
