After five weeks of travelling through all of Chilean Patagonia and the better parts of Argentinian Patagonia - El Calafate and El Chalten - spending a night here and a couple of nights there, it was time for a long rest at a resort/spa hotel in Ushuaia. Five nights in a Patagonia Suite was the ultimate in comfort. The restaurant food of a very high standard and the Pisco Sours best drunk sitting down. All the staff were very welcoming and extremely efficient. The hotel service into downtown Ushuaia ran many times each day.

It is a nice resort for active people winter time or summer time. It has the same vibe as a typical ski resort, pretty big size interior. The staff is really attentive and tries hard to provide a five star experience.

This was an 2 bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood located behind the owners' home. Breakfast was not included; however, our hostess, Gris, came over 2 mornings while we were there out of our 5 days and brought us a basket full of breakfast goodies. We hired her son, Christian, for a couple of days to take us into the Andes. We spent a day exploring Tierra del Fuego National Park and day two we explored the resorts north of Ushuaia as well as some other interesting sights.

Room was large, breakfast had a hot item - scrambled eggs. Argentinian hotels normally have very poor breakfast, but these guys had a decent spread. The hotel restaurant has a good menu and they cook it well. The front desk lady and gentleman are very helpful, knowledgeable about the area, eager to arrange things and even had a transfer to the ski resort sorted in 15 minutes, when nobody else had any cars available. Real superstars!

I must say, the hotel is quite charming and pleasant. However, it does seem to have an all-inclusive resort vibe, which is not exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping for a more exclusive and secluded retreat. Nonetheless, the hotel does have its own unique charm that I can appreciate.

Location was ideal. Staff was exceptional - arranged for 5pm checkout. Sunrise views were spectacular. Suite was on the basic side. Not a luxury spot but brand new and comfortable.

The views from this Resort and our room (book the sea view room) are to-die-for. You can literally see the Beagle Channel from the lovely bathroom! Very cool to be able to hike right out the front door. The food (we enjoyed complimentary breakfasts and one dinner) is excellent, and the staff very friendly. There is a shuttle service into town, which is convenient.

This Basic with a capital B. But with the local resort charging $750, it’s a bargain. It’s four rooms and a bathroom in a private home. The owner is nice and has a taxi too!!
