We stayed in one of the rooms on the side of the hotel. The waterfall below felt as if it was flowing right inside the room. It was incredibly relaxing to lie in the bathtub on the balcony in such an atmosphere. I highly recommend staying on this side of the hotel to everyone.

We stayed here during a rainy spell, and honestly, the weather only made the experience more magical. The hotel’s garden is absolutely stunning—tranquil, beautifully designed, and truly one of the highlights of our visit. Even just walking through it in the rain felt like stepping into a Studio Ghibli scene. It was also our first time trying an onsen, which was a bit intimidating as a foreigner. I was nervous about making a faux pas. I’d really recommend the hotel staff consider asking international guests about their onsen experience and maybe include a short etiquette guide or explanation in the welcome brochure. That small addition would make a big difference! A lovely touch was the Japanese-style clothing set provided by the hotel; it was so comfortable and made the whole experience feel extra special. We booked with dinner and breakfast included, and it was so worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and the dining setting was lovely. The location was also super convenient: there’s a bus stop right across the street, which made it really easy to explore the area.

After a busy week traveling in Japan, this is exactly the place you are looking for. Amazing outdoor onsen, great Japanese buffet breakfast, and lovely staff. The rooms are huge, especially considering the typical room sizes in Japan. It is a steep walk from the train station to the hotel, so it's better to take a taxi or request the local shuttle.

Everything was perfect, This is a magnificent place with amazing gardens and comfortable areas to relax and enjoy. Great swimming pool and facilities. The public onsite onsen was beautiful and the meals (western meals-dinner included) and breakfast were superb. This is a 140-year-old property with an onsite museum. Love the onsen facilities, with a few different onsen pools, both indoor and outdoor. And facilities very clean. Dinner and breakfast was very good. Staff very polite and helpful, even called us to remind us about the timing. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. There's even yukata for children. 100% recommended to others.
