Overlooking Portmagee’s busy harbor, The Moorings Guest house is just a 30-second walk from the pier, offering elegant rooms with marble bathrooms.

The view!!! The facility is amazing and allows you to fully take it in with enormous picture windows. Monica does a great job with perfect snacks, enough for your own breakfast in a mini fridge. She was so helpful to us as we didn’t have a car, and she arranged for us to get to some further flung places. She took good care of us! Great communication as well.

Marie was friendly and so helpful. She’s a great host. The room is almost brand new and is very cosy. The best thing is the amazing Cliffs of Kerry just walking distance away. Not to be missed and Marie gave us two tickets for free admission.

Great location in Portmagee, beautiful little sitting area outside the room. Nice to have a kitchenette!
The venue was lovely, and quiet. Perfect for a long awaited rest. The facilities were well maintained and clean. The proprietor was very nice, and attentive to our requirements.
The location was perfect for our requirements, to observe the night sky. No light pollution.
We had a really nice experience.
Thanks to all involved. 👍👍👍

Portmagee and the surrounding area is an absolutely gorgeous part of Kerry! Very easy to get around, a car is recommended. Definitely check out the Kerry Cliffs, stunning scenery and you can spot the Skellig Islands on a clear day.
The Fishermans Bar in Portmagee and Driftwood Surf Cafe in St Finians Bay were great finds.
We also loved the Fire & Ice sauna at Ballinskelligs beach, and the nearby Cafe Cois Tra for a coffee and sandwich.
We did the Skellig Island boat tour from the visitor centre on Valentia Island and really enjoyed it! Depending on the weather the sea can be a bit bumpy so would recommend a sea sickness tablet on a windy day

Portmagee was very nice to stay in the night before travelling to the Skelligs. We ate at 4 of the restaurants in town--the two big pubs were both lovely and the cafes were also great for breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure we could have spent more than one night here unless we were also cycling/doing hikes, but our night before our boat trip was excellent. The tour of the Skelligs was one of the highlights of the trip, and the trip out to Portmagee is absolutely worth it to see the islands.

Lovely fishing village with good pubs, good food and pleasant friendly local people. A great area for walkers and sightseeing. Boat trips are available to see the bird sanctuary island, Skellig Beag and also, one can visit the island of Skellig Michael, home to the ancient monastic settlement dedicated to St Michael the Archangel. The trip to Skellig Michael requires booking well in advance and landing on the island is weather dependent, but well worth visiting if one is lucky enough to get the right weather conditions.
Also, for the chocolate lovers, visit the local chocolate factory - tea, coffee, cake, chocolate with nice views over Saint Finans bay!

I loved Port Magee.
I loved Port Magee. I did a landing tour on Skellig Michael. It was the high light of my 2 week Ireland trip. Port Magee is a nice little harbor town with friendly helpful people. Don't stay at Stonechat. We had no hot water and no linen on any of the beds. We had no help from management til the 3rd day. We left 2 days early.

Plenty of activity, trails, scenic views, restaurants, music at certain times and places. A good base for The Ring Of Kerry. Romantic get aways. By night it’s romantically beautiful by day it’s romantically fascinating

A super cozy, spacious and inviting property with terrace, garden, two bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen, free ample parking space right in front, a very friendly and helpful host, sea shore in walking distance, quiet surroundings -- all conditions met for a relaxing holiday!
The property is in Ardcost, a 10 min drive from both Portmagee and Cahersiveen, both charming places. Cahersiveen has a big supermarket and other shops. From Portmagee you can go across to Valentia Island.
We have never stayed in accommodation with a view this good. It is phenomenal. You literally wake up looking at Valentia Island and Portmagee from your bed. On top of that, the host was so warm and welcoming. The room is beautiful and so spacious. The bath is lovely too. The breakfast provided and the tea, coffee, chocolates etc was such a lovely touch and really appreciated. We have already recommended the place to family and friends and want to come back again. Thank you:)
From the moment we entered the Moorings Hotel there was a lovely ambience about the place. We were met by the lovely receptionist Snezhana.A real breath of fresh air. She organised a last minute dinner reservation for four of us. The food was top class. We enjoyed each course. Compliments to the chef. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly. Looking forward to returning again when we reshedule our landing tour to Skellig Michael.
The location was terrific. A very easy 5 minute drive down to Portmagee, so it made a great base for Skellig Michael. The accommodation though on the small side was clean, and the bed very comfortable. The Kerry Cliffs next door really were spectacular, so it was a great bonus to have a pass to visit them.
Very friendly host and great location and accommodation. About a 10 minute walk into the lovely Portmagee which has several very nice pubs which do great food. If you're lucky enough to get the upstairs room overlooking Portmagee you are in for a treat.
