Great location for scenery, great drives and taking the train to Innsbruck. Unknown to us, many resteruants, cafés and hotels were closed as our visit in the second day week of April was the end of the high season so places were shut till May or June. This also meant most Hutte' were closed, despite literature stating that they would be open. Same for some attractions and gorges.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - Review score

Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar.
Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar. It's a must when travelling to Austria. Easy to get to by train from Germany and from within Austria. A small town easily navigated on foot. It's stunning. It was a shame the gondola was not operating though.Guest review byHelenAustralia - Review score

The ski area has a good range of slopes for novice/intermediates. If you are a total beginner there are better areas to start your skiing adventures. The best slopes in our opinion are a few runs and ski lifts away from the ascent via the Penkenbahn but are so worth it. Ahorn is good for an easy accessible confidence boost run or 2 and has some fun areas for the children. Hintertux glacier is a good day out and free bus available but can be super busy. We flew in to Innsbruck and then took the train to Mayrhofen for the first time and it was super easy and good value.Guest review byNikkiUnited Kingdom - Review score
nice town.
nice town. Ideal base for early season hike (start of May) in Wilder Kaiser region. Most other places in vicinity are closed as main hiking season hasn't started yet. The local kaiserlift (chair lift) was open so takes you to start of good hikes..Guest review bymichaelIreland - Review score

What I like about Kitzbühel is that it is elegant and glamorous, as well as relaxing and comfortable. You don’t need to rush anywhere, everything is close by. One is pampered by the local hospitality, which is a great feeling. The Alps around Kitzbühel are also elegant and cosy, not to mention great skiing conditions, about which everyone knows.Guest review byMarinaAustria - Review score
Great place with lots to see and do.
Great place with lots to see and do. There are some lovely walks and drives from here so it is also a good base for exploring the wider area. Some good restaurants too! Two large supermarkets each with their own car park. Spar has a large playground next door so the kids can also have fun whilst one of you shops. 10 minutes drive from both Italy and Switzerland.Guest review byIrwinUnited Kingdom - Review score

A beautiful unspoiled natural area, lovely welcoming people. The scenery is so stunning. So few British people seem to visit and we don’t understand why! It was lovely in summer, swimming in the lake, and in winter we returned for walking and skiing.Guest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - Review score

The DE-ticket works between Ehrwald and Garmish, despite that Ehrwald is in Austria, so one can travel freely there. The Zugspitze, Sonnenspitze and other locations are reachable by train/bus/cable car from Ehrwald. The Seebensee is fantastic lake, one can get there by a bus+cable car and using and normal road or a bus and a rather difficult via ferrata. Also there is an indoor climbing (about 15m high) gym with 4 automatic belaying stations in Ehrwald, so one can climb even during bad weather conditions.Guest review byAnonymousRussia
