A Wine Region of Imperial Fame
A beautiful German wine district punctuated by medieval castles, the Mosel centres on the meandering Moselle River between Koblenz and the Luxembourg border. The most famous wine produced here is the crisp Riesling, and many vineyards are picturesquely located on the steep banks of the river.
The Mosel hotels, guest houses and apartments on Booking.com are spread all over this fantastic region, with many set right by the river and offering spectacular views of the lush scenery. Each town and village has its own characteristics and there are wine tours and tastings galore to be enjoyed.
There are too many Mosel Valley attractions to list them all, but highlights include Alken castle, set high on a hill overlooking the riverside village below. One of the most spectacularly located castles is at Cochem on a lush hill by a bend in the river, while Bernkastel-Kues has a stunning medieval core with brightly painted half-timbered houses.

This is a very nice hotel in the outstanding nature surroundings of Mosel River and vineries. Despite the early and quiet season, the hotel was full of travelers. We were lucky to get a river view room.
It was spacious enough for a couple with a nice sitting area both inside the room and on the balcony.
The room was warm, and we turned the heating off during the night, which is not typical for Europe 🙂.
The room was fresh renovated with a non-typical toilet/shower room door , which is not fully a door. However, it was totally fine for us.
The shower itself was well maintained and clean.
The sauna was hot 🔥 which was good, but the swimming pool area was crowded.
Visitors occupied all the sitting and laying places, with rare practice for sauna or the swinning pool, maybe due to rain outside.
There were complaints of other tourists on the bad internet in the hotel. I can say the signal is available in every area, but you can't do much with it. Neither with wifi or mobile networks. On the other hand you get plenty of time for yourself and sightseeing.
Keep in mind you better reserve the table for a dinner in advance due to multiple bookings from outside the hotel. But one of their restaurants is a Michelene award winner 2019 and it was fully by the time we checked in. ✔️

Fantastic hotel! Breakfast options were plentiful with eggs made to order. We stayed in the Lifestyle Suite which was huge with lost of space for our dog to move around in and clean with a good modern feel. It was quiet in the evenings and had a mini fridge in it with a few items to buy. The location was great also with the Mosel being a few feet away. We didn't eat dinner there, but the small bar was great and the bartender (curly reddish/brown hair) was really nice and made outstanding cocktails. Small parking lot, but we found a spot to park our car. Would definitely recommend the place and stay there again.

When I look for a hotel I look for one with good parking, in a great location for what I want to see, and has a good breakfast. This hotel easily met all 3 and more. They had excellent breakfast and facilities. Our room was so clean and spacious. We are traveling with a baby and they were very accommodating of our little one. Hotel staff were nice. I cannot say anything bad about this hotel and that’s a first for me as a frequent traveler.

Patric is an exceptional host. He helped me book a room at Dormero Frankfurt for the next night. The location right on the Mosel River is fantastic and I hiked up to the castle from the hotel. Everything about the room and service was great, and I absolutely would stay there again and recommend it 100%. Thank you Patric for an amazing experience ! Also highly recommend The Burg Döner Restaurant a few doors from the hotel. Superb !

Cochem is a beautiful looking town right on the Mosel River.
Cochem is a beautiful looking town right on the Mosel River. However we didn;t love it at all. It is totally geard for tourists coming off the River Cruise shiops. 90% of the restauraunts are designed for tourists. The shops are mostly touristy. My wife and I could not find one Market to buy cheese and apples. we asked around and everyine said you needed a car to buy any groceries. There is a train station there and iyou can rent bikes and go on river cruises or what to the Castle (which by the way is not a castly but its still worth seeing) the Castle was torn down a million years agi and some rich Frenchman rebuilt it in 1949 as his summer hoime. Still fiun to visit. We would never go back to Cochem. if you want a great small city German experience go to Bamberg.

A very pleasant and interesting experience in Trier...like a travel in a timecapsule back into the past. The Porta Nigra was not build in one day, but the Romans were the big influencer. Welterbe, Wein und Wissen like Gladiatoren, Geister und Geheimnisse I think says it all. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and the most well rounded, in all catagories. I would always take time out of my schedule to take a detour to visitTrier again:-)

Extremely pleasant olde world small town on the meandering River Mosel. Surrounded by vineyards. Good location for sightseeing surrounding valleys and villages.
Lots of unending cycle paths and hiking opportunities galore.
Thermal Baths and Go-Karting in neighbouring villages within 25 minutes drive away by car.
Outdoor Swimming baths located within Kues.
Numerous Supermarkets including REWE to hand.

This is a small wine town with a few good restaurants ,the river and grass areas to take chairs and relax when the weather is warm . In fairness apart from wine tasting there is not much else ,however it is in a good mid area to go up or down the Mosel with Bernkastle-Kues one end and Cocham at the other .For a 2 or 3 day stop perfect .

Zell is a charming village right on the Moselle River. We enjoyed sitting by the river watching the barges and ships. The town is very walkable, and there is frequent bus service to the nearest train station of Bullay. This is a wine town; if you like Riesling, you are in the right place!

3 generations of one family (and a dog) – spent here 2 nights in May, 2024. This house is a very good place for family vacation: 3 bedrooms, a kitchen with a dinner table, a living room and 2 good bathrooms. Pet-friendly – this is fortunately typical for Germany. Distances: ~ 100m from Mosel. ~ 1.3 km to Edeka supermarket, ~ 7 km to Cochem center. There are also 2 minor “cons”: no dishwash machine and no Mosel view. Friendly host. Recommended for family vacation.

Cochem is a beautiful part of the Mosel wine valley. It has a very picturesque castle, and market square. There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants to meet everyone’s requirements.
For a weeks stay there is plenty to do.
We can highly recommend walking up to the castle, the view is spectacular. Or take a river cruise to Beilstein or a round trip to Treis-Karden. You can get off the boot to have a look round for a couple of hours before returning to Cochem.
The Bundesbank-bunker is also worth a visit.
Or bring your bikes…..the bicycle paths are perfect.
