The apartment is located on a lovely property with a big lawn and lots of greenery. There is a small supermarket and some other small businesses nearby and also a cafe/bar/restaurant right on the property, though we didn’t have time to try the food there this time. Staff was super friendly and highly responsive. I forgot my bag in the apartment and realized this after checking out, but they came to unlock the door for me right away. The bed in the Amethyst Suite is incredibly comfortable - we wish we could have taken it with us! Everything was clean and tidy and just as described/shown in the pictures. We also loved that it’s a dog friendly property (dogs are 250 DKK) . The surrounding area is quiet and great for walking your dog. Overall we were super happy with the place and would like to return someday.

Very friendly, welcoming, and warm family owned hotel. Fantastic staff who are very observant and service oriented. The hotel is right in the city center just a few steps from the teater and the walking street in Sønderborg. I wouldn’t call this sweet a suite, but it was a very spacious room with nice interior , lots of closets space and a safe.

Rural location outside of Tonder was beautiful, quiet, very relaxing and rejuvenating. My room view was the front of the building where cars were parked, but not a problem. Bath was updated. Breakfast was very good, available early because I had to leave early. Large breakfast room had 2 ceiling to floor sliding doors with views of the fields around the hotel property. Cattle grazing nearby. Courtyard in the middle and breakfast room would be great for a wedding or family get-together. Very nicely decorated with authentic upscale farmhouse furnishings and much attention to detail. Not hard to find. Owner worked hard to please. Everything high quality.

Sigita, who checked me in, was very sweet, attentive and helpful with information. She noted the option for basic self-catering cottages which you clean yourself have no heating and I could check first if I needed something different (e.g. property offers various options: camping, basic cottages, hotel rooms, full seaside cabins, etc.) Although it was very cold for October, there was plenty of provided bedding (bring your own linen or rent). It was simple but sufficient with a couch, bunkbeds, table, amazingly quick kitchen appliances (supermarket & bakery only 100 m away), patio, and plenty of communal bathrooms that were maintained regularly by a friendly gentleman. For an additional fee, you could access an indoor pool with a steam room, spa treatments, outdoor sauna, bicycle rental, laundry, and various tours including a horse ranch nearby. There is also an outdoor pool and restaurant which opens for breakfast, lunch and buffet dinner. I thought it was excellent to have all these amenities on-site if wanting to stay in a bit more of a quieter part of the island but best to have a vehicle or rent a bike as local transport varies on seasonal schedule if exploring.

Location is great and the room that we got was very spacious and lovely - we loved the old school vibes! The bed was super comfy with fluffy pillows and warm covers. I appreciated the option to open windows and the blinds as I like to sleep in the dark. Breakfast didn’t have tons of options but all the staples were available; eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls + yoghurt and cereal and fresh fruit. No fresh juice but bottled drinks in several flavors were pretty good!

I visited Sonderborg since I have ancestors who went from there to Australia about 150 years ago. I knew very little about the town and the island of Als and wished to learn more. Having spent five days there I am now delighted to know that it is part of my heritage.

It was horrible. The hotel only communicated digitally.

It was horrible. The hotel only communicated digitally. I needed their help because my charger cable could not be removed from the charging station. There was no senior staff in the hotel, only kitchen staff and cleaners. There was a phone number on the wall poster, but that helpdesk was useless because they could not remotely release the cable. The trip to Aabenraa cost me an additional 1649 DKK on top of the hotel bill, in order to get a new cable.

Our negative experience started upon arrival.

Our negative experience started upon arrival. Check-in was confirmed by email from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We arrived at 4:30 PM, but the reception was already closed. There was only a sign saying it would reopen the next day at 9:00 AM. No prior information, no late check-in instructions, and no emergency contact number were provided. We were travelling with our family and almost had to leave. By chance, a pool staff member helped us — special thanks to him. Only then did we learn about a key mailbox near the reception, which is normally explained in advance by email with a PIN code — information we never received. Another family was also looking for staff to obtain bed linen, which they had booked days earlier. Bed linen is charged extra (~€17 per person). Additionally, electricity and water are charged separately at check-out. Despite very economical usage (no sauna), we were charged €240 for one week. There are no meters in the house, so the charges cannot be verified. The house looked acceptable but clearly not thoroughly cleaned (cobwebs). We had to use our own kitchen utensils. In my opinion, this property may work better in summer, but for the same price there are much better and more transparent options elsewhere.

Quite place and great location nearby the Lake. The price for the room is hight enough to pay the employees to clean the room, it was dusty and I found 2 spiders. The toilet and bathroom is clean and new renovated.

Its a very nice environment.

Its a very nice environment. The girls who welcomed as were really shy and showed us our room and kitchen and bathroom , but real quick like she didnt want to do it. The owners we saw at the end of the day, but it was a quick hello and than they went into their space. The male owner doesnt speak english, so if you dont speak german or danish, its hard to have a conversation. The female owner does speak english, but we felt like she doesnt like to talk to guests

We really enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. In the morning there was a beautiful sunset. There where fields all around and it was very quiet. The home was nice and clean with a kitchen. The host warmed soup for us. The bed and bathroom are super. I will recommend this place to everyone!

We visit Sønderborg quite often.

We visit Sønderborg quite often. It's location at the Baltic Sea and close to the German border make it an attractive location for a day trip or weekend escape. The city center provides lots of shopping options and restaurants. We always enjoy walking along the habor promenade and along the beach.

Very small and lovely place.

Very small and lovely place. Little old town with its lovely streets and parks. Easy to walk around, everything is nearby and bus transport between different villages worked well. Favorite place was beach area where we had dinner twice. Very good restaurant in the beach- Under Sejlet (https://www.undersejlet.dk/)

Grasten is the place where the Danish royal family spends...

Grasten is the place where the Danish royal family spends their Summer vacation at the castle in town. The town itself is small and very quiet, not a lot of stores and restaurants, especially not for tourists.

This is a family farm with rooms for rent.

This is a family farm with rooms for rent. We got everything we needed to spend the night there: a comfortable and clean bed, towels and a shower in a shared toilet. There was a fully equiped kitchen and a living room at our disposition too. The place is nice and calm, surounded by open views and farm landscape. Horsed and hares are to be seen around the fields of the farm. Not a luxury hotel, but and autentic experience indeed.
