Set in the historic grounds of Wivenhoe Park, this 18th-century house is next to the University of Essex campus. All of it.. I feel like I live in a mansion! Very clean, old-fashioned but posh, the food was excellent! We booked the suite and the room was huge, we even had our living room section, the bathroom was so clean as well. Very near the Uni of Essex, 3 mins walk and I assure you that if you want to really rest your body & mind, this is the place.

Service was excellent, both as an overnight guest and as a member of a large dinner party. Food was also excellent, all our party agreed. I had pork belly, duck and creme brulee... The room was very nicely decorated, warm and clean. The ensuite shower room was warm, big towels and enough of the usual supplies. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit teas, biscuits, milk in the cutest bottles, couldn't have done more. Breakfast was good, the service excellent and the choice unlimited. I would highly recommend The Courthouse for dinner or overnight stay.

Situated in Clacton-on-Sea, The Aviator, formerly Smugglers Cove, Clacton On Sea by Marston's Inns has a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi throughout the property. Didn't have breakfast as had family nearby. However we loved the restaurant for meeting up with friends/family in the area and the carvery was excellent. As was the menu, choice of drinks and staff were so friendly and appraochable. Loved having a bath - absolute luxury!
