We were pleasantly surprised that despite the old building, the hotel was very warm and cosy inside. The rooms are very clean and well heated! New windows held the design of the old ones. Staff made you feel at home! Breakfast is delicious and more than enough! The location may seem remote from the town, but it is an advantage because the scenery is breathtaking. And when the weather is fine, you can sit outside and enjoy the views.

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

Fantastic location. The hotel has the nicest staff and receptionists and they were very attentive. The hotel was outstanding in every way. The place was clean, inviting, and had great service. We had multiple meals and the food itself was pretty good and well-valued. The room was cozy and tastefully furnished. I had a great time during my visit. In the future, I plan to return for a longer stay.

I really enjoyed Inverness — it has such a welcoming atmosphere, with a mix of Highland charm and lively energy. The Etape Loch Ness ride was absolutely epic, easily the highlight of my trip. The scenery around the loch is breath-taking, and riding through it made the whole experience unforgettable. Even though my stay was short, the city left a strong impression on me. I would have loved more time to wander along the River Ness, explore the local cafés, and see more of the surrounding Highlands. Inverness feels like the kind of place you could keep discovering something new each time you visit.

I was only there for the evening.

I was only there for the evening. As a coastal town I was hoping to get some fish and chips but after 3/4 hour driving around- including along the main esplanade- I couldn't find a fish & chip shop. Obviously, a lot of the city activity is based on oil exploration support services. I'm sure the beach area would be pleasant on a warmer day.

Pitlochry is one of our favourite places to stay, even when the weather isn't great. Already recommended to friends and family. We really enjoy walking as there is so many places and hills. Old Mill is one of favourite places to eat. Travelling around Pitlochry is so easy as everything has restaurants and pubs from one end to the other of the high street, so walking is recommend.
