It is a new hotel and a bit quirky in the decor and in an amazing position a short stroll from the castle the royal mile and restaurants… the staff also were amazing so helpful we had a 5.30am leave and they asked the night before if we would like a coffee to take in the taxi … we did and it was waiting for us

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

The property is the most magnificent building in Edinburgh. The staff went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. They helped us in getting a doctor when my baby became unwell there - thank you. Thank you also for the lovely baby welcome gifts, they made my daughter very happy :). Edinburgh is quite compact and easy to get around walking. Love, love love. The people make Glasgow, full stop. Friendly, polite, cheerful, helpful. Everyone we met apart from the hotel receptionist was a pure joy. Glasgow is and feels real. People live here. It's not touristy. It's gritty, it's got a great personality, there are so many interesting areas and we barely scratched the surface. Can not wait to come back. But we'll be staying someplace else.

Fort William is very beautiful, but the weather plays a significant negative impact on trips to Fort William. We had expected August to be a good time for an enjoyable and scenic holiday, but unfortunately, we experienced continuous rain from the day we arrived. We later learned that Fort William is known for having frequent rainfall and that May is generally one of the drier months, which we were not aware of when planning our trip.

A fun little harbour town.

A fun little harbour town. Always a feeling of excitment with ferries leaving for the islands. Excellent seafood on the dockside and plenty good bars and restaurants in town. Eeusk is always busy - for a reason!. Hotels in town are mostly not the best - a bit old and rundown. Better to stay in one of the lovely B&Bs and guesthouses along the Corran Esplanade. Boat trips around the bay are fun and if you like a good walk then the 4 hour hike round Kerrera visiting the ruins of Gylen Castle and the tea garden cafe is a great day out
