Staff was very attentive and very friendly whoever you spoke to and they all made sure we had a good experience. The food was really good too. The newer area of the hotel was very nicely decorated and clean, and the old part of the estate still had a very cosy feeling, especially the bar in the "library" where we could sit and have a few drinks after dinner.

This was the best room I stayed in my whole trip. It was classically decorated and had fun things to look at. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was amazing--it had heated floors! Even though it was summer, I used the heated floors. So fun! The food was delicious. I had dinner and the included breakfast. The dining staff went out of their way to make my meals just right for me. The chef even came out to ask my how spicy I would like the food. I also enjoyed the friendly and open atmosphere in the dining area with the other guests. I enjoyed talking to the other guests over my meals. The restaurant called me a few hours before I checked in to ask me if I were interested in a reservation. That was a good thing because I did not realize that there would be a restaurant and I was going to pick up take away food on my drive there. All the staff at the hotel were superb and worked hard. I noticed that the management knew how to lead their staff and create a cohesiveness between the three sister hotels in the area. There was even a spa in one of the sister hotels down the road, so I got an amazing massage.

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

Fort William is a outdoors persons town with plenty of access to the surrounding hills as well as plenty of shops selling outdoor equipment should you have forgotten to bring any essential kit! There are plenty of places to get both food and drink as well as any souvenirs you might wish for and with plenty of accommodation options to suit both your budget and your preferred type of accommodation, you should have no trouble finding a place to stay.

Lots of variety in restaurants. We ate at Coasters, Wetherspoons (with a fascinating view of the harbour) and a couple of pubs, as well as aboard the Waverley paddle steamer. All the bus services were excellent, we travelled to Stonehaven and Gourdon for family visits and used the Ember buses. Excellent service and bus ride. A must is the Maritime museum in Aberdeen, free admission. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of different information and activities on 5 floors about fishing, harbour life and oil rigs. There is a lift, but a few steps between each floor. Recommendation - start on floor 5.
