Had originally booked a "De Luxe" room for our stay. This room did not meet our expectations at all. We told the staff in the reception and they immediately offered us an up-grate, but as the hotel was fully booked, this would, however, only be possible the next day, as the hotel was full. Imagine our surprise when we walked into our new room, one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in, a SUITE with our own outside HOT TUB on the balcony. All the staff here are outstanding, the bartender, the restaurant staff (fantastic food) and of course the staff in the reception. Can only recommend staying at Hotel Keflavik.

The remote and peaceful location, view of the breaking waves from the house, private hot tub, fully functional kitchen with essential equipment which allowed us to cook our own meals, big windows in the living room, hosts who were very responsive to our questions. Multiple streaming services on TV - Netflix, Disney+, Rakuten TV, etc. Good Wifi service.

I love Keflavik!

I love Keflavik! It's a great town, small but not too small, offering places to eat, stores, and easy access to the beach. Of course, you'll find (my favorite) diner, Olsen Olsen, which just puts an ending to a perfect day....in perfect Keflavik. Oh, and I can't forget about The Park Inn by Radisson, which is a cool and nifty place to eat. Great atmosphere, and really great food too!

So Grindavik is a town that got hit hard from several earthquakes and magmaflows from the nearby volcano Fagradalsfjall, last time in 2023. Visitors should know that some information on Google is not up to date. Including infrastructure and places opening hours. Most of the buildings and homes are deserted. However, the town has a beautiful coastline, friendly inhabitants and if your interested in volcanos absolutely worth a stay. It's also quite close to the airport.

Gardur is a convenient location close to the airport. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable, The access was easy with no stairs for brining in luggage. I liked the small town and visiting the lighthouses nearby. I enjoyed my stay here and would stay here again.

We chose to stay here on our last night in Iceland, for the convenience of the airport. It was really good, a very easy 10/15 minute drive, with no traffic or weather worries so was well worth it! Its close to blue lagoon too so you could go there, but it was fully booked for us so we drove up to Sky lagoon instead to soother our aching muscles! Has a hot tub which we didn't use as we had been to the lagoon but would have been a nice way to finish off especially as we were treated to a great Aurora display.. a fantastic way to bid farewell to Iceland! Very well equipped and nicely furnished. The only slight negative if we were staying longer is the walls were a little thin in the semi detached and you could hear next door at times, as they had a full house, so I would opt for the detached for privacy but fine for us for one night.

Vogar is obviously just a bedroom community for Reykjavik with little there except a hotel, a motel, and a single uninteresting restaurant. It is convenient to the airport, the Blue Lagoon, and an excellent lava tube attraction. It is also close to the recent volcano eruption should you want to see than. The volcano was sleeping when we visited. It is far out of the path of the lava flow so it is quite safe.

Easy to reach accommodation, nice room in a house with big communal areas like kitchen and lounge/dining room. Great location to go anywhere in Iceland. This time I only came to see the active volcano and this accommodation was perfect for my trip. Described with no wifi available, while instead fast wifi was there, so much better than expected. Thanks again.

If you want to stay close to the main airport in Iceland then Keflavik is your only option. It is a very scenic small blue collar fishing village that is right along the shoreline. There are many restaurants within the center of the village. It is also a good location to view the Northern lights and to see whales.

We were impressed of all what the town went through, and how it is recovering. It gives you a sense of rush and adrenaline to be there with the tension of the volcano near by, but everything is set up in case of an emergency.

We just spent our last day in this area and overnight for a morning flight. We drove around the peninsula and took in the ocean and lava fields for the last time. The Bridge between the Continents was very interesting. We loved the city of Keflavik and especially the Dunn Museum cafe. (We got there too late for the museum itself.) We both took advantage of the seafood and were not disappointed. Halibut for me, which was fabulous. My husband had a seafood trio with shrimp and lobster. We both cleaned our plates!
