Conveniently located near the Sendai train station which is also where many of the bus stations were. 7-Eleven and Starbucks are available just right below the hotel. Hotel looks new with modern aesthetics, and rooms are spacious as compared to most average hotels in Japan.

The spa was really great for casual baths. The cold spa wasn't freezing but cold enough to feel get the shivers, the baths were hot enough to stimulate the skin, the sauna was spacious enough. The free beer token and after-bath accommodations were the cherry on top. I'm very appreciative of my stay in Sendai and I think a good amount of that is because of this hotel.

The room is small, as most of the Japanese city hotel rooms. But we only use it to sleep, so it doesn't matter to us. The service was great from the staff. Breakfast is adequate using local produces. We enjoyed the onsen bath. Easy walking distance to Sendai station even for my 80 year old mother. Plenty of restaurants around. Great price. Loved it.

Sendai held a special place in my heart as the epicenter of the 3/11 East Japan Quake. We traveled this area extensively for a week revisiting the sites that I did some relief work in 2011. The city and surrounding areas around Ishinomaki had been rebuilt and it brought be great joy to see the resilience of the people to fight through very challenging circumstances. Whether it’s a trip to Yamadera Temple in the Mountains, a visit to the Oshima Shrine at Mastushima Bay, a walk through the covered shopping center near Sendai station, you are sure to enjoy your experience at Sendai.

Very friendly traditional hotel.

Very friendly traditional hotel. For some travellers, a futon on the floor may be not to their taste. We decided to go for it and it was a good experience, although being of advanced years getting up off the floor was a bit of a trial. Nice hotel, clean and excellent sized rooms. Good location, easy walk to local restaurants (the hotel doesn't do food). We found two really nice small owner-run restaurants nearby with limited but excellent food. Recommended.

I visited the first week of September and it was quite hot - I suffered heat exhaustion one day. However, the surrounding area is attractive, with lots of opportunities for hiking (that's how I overheated), kayaking, and other outdoor activities. It's pretty easy to get around by bus. I also enjoyed taking a ferry to "Cat Island" (actual name: Tashirojima).

The town of Shiogama is what we Americans call a "bedroom" community of a large city - in this case being Sendai. It has all the basic amenities that a traveler needs (restaurants, convenience stores, etc.). All the action that a typical seeks is in Sendai which is only but a 15 to 20 minute ride by JR Rail. In my opinion, staying in Shiogama has its advantages in terms of affordability (especially for B&Bs) since Sendai can be quite pricey. Travelers should take that into consideration.

There are plenty of attractions and gourmet food in the city, but less crowded compared to Kanto or Kansai. With the Sendai Maguroto pass, the transportation in Sendai and surounding area, such as Yamadera, Matsushima, Shiraishi, and Akiu, is very convenient for me.

Declared one of Japan's top 3 scenic views, this is a cute hamlet to get away from big city travel. They have wonderful oyster/seafood restaurants, beautiful shrines, and a gorgeous waterfront. Easy daytrip from Sendai, but worth a night's stay if you have the time.

The city of Sendai is charming, easy to navigate (with two major subway lines, going (a) east and west, and (b) north and south-- the fare is usually under US $2.00; as well as the extensive bus lines--each bus ride costs about 200 yen--less than one US dollar), and relatively compact in size. It is not only known for its history, good museums and universities, but for its proximity to Matsushima and Shiogama (that would make an excellent day trip). The city of Sendai has plenty of parks near the city center (all within the walking distance, or a short bus ride), and some of the major boulevards are covered with magnificent trees. You must find out (from your friends or the hotel desk) where to go and dine, as Sendai is known for its abundant blessings of nature, both of the sea and the land, which translates into fresh sea food and nourishing vegetables and delicious meat. My advice, if you want to make a memorable visit to Sendai: make sure to select a very comfortable hotel (and not a business hotel). It will make a qualitative difference to your experience of the city. Also, excellent are the good hot-springs spas nearby, such as Akiu and Sakunami. Some of the major "onsen hotels" run their free shuttle service from Sendai Station. To really appreciate Sendai, you need to talk to the ordinary shop keepers and street sellers, as they retain the warm spirit of old Sendai, not the new "supersized chain-store mentality." Once you find the niche, you will expand your sense of exploration .... into the heart of the city and the entire North Eastern part of Japan.

I had a fantastic stay at this ryokan.

I had a fantastic stay at this ryokan. The indoor onsen was wonderfully relaxing, offering a peaceful and soothing experience. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like family—attentive, kind, and always ready to help with a smile. Their genuine hospitality really made the stay special. The room was comfortable and traditional, with everything we needed for a cozy, restful night. I highly recommend this ryokan for anyone looking for exceptional service and a peaceful getaway.
