Hotel in Kiwengwa
Located in Kiwengwa, a few steps from Kiwengwa Beach, Zanzibella Hotel & SPA provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a bar. I loved Zanzibella!! Such a beautifully designed hotel. The staff were so warm, welcoming, and helpful, and the hotel is the perfect size--small enough to feel quiet & intimate but big enough for a stroll. We spent 8 hours one day on the secluded beach. The meal portions were generous, and we loved the entertainment! I also had a great massage at the spa at very affordable rate. I would 100% recommend Zanzibella if you're looking for a truly relaxing experience vs. a party.

Hotel in Nungwi
Located in Nungwi, a 2-minute walk from Nungwi Beach, African Bungalows has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. We spent 9 magical nights at the place and it was amazing.african bungalows is more than a hotel ,it's a family place where the staff and the owners really take care of you.from the moment we booked we were kept in constant contact / communication with the owners about whether we required shuttle from and back to the airport which we accepted.they also advised about all the activities we could do.upon arrival we realized we were in heaven with the beautiful palm trees and stunning pool.we met the turkish owners who are brothers and Mai who checked us in easily.the hotel has its own restaurant and the food is divine.they also have nightly events and dinners. Really enjoyed the BBQ dinners.the rooms are big with fridge , showers , hair dryer for the ladies , daily shampoo and soaps.tea /coffee and drinking water is complimentary daily. We enjoyed the daily breakfasts as well.the place is literally a minute walk to the main nungwi beach and about 20 minutes walk to kendwa beach. There are many places to swim. It is very safe during the day and at night to walk about with many restaurants situated around it. Mai arranged one of the dolphin tours to mnemba Island which we enjoyed and came with us as well. The tumbatu Island is also close for snorkelling with boat.we also did the nakupenda , prison island and stone town tour. The nungwi turtle sanctuary is about a ten minute walk.we enjoyed swimming with the dolphins and turtles. This is a new hotel and it catered to our every needs. All the staff were friendly and we really enjoyed our stay here.we will definitely be back. We are missing the crystal clear turqoise waters now.also missing those 2 cute cats.

Zanzibar was great. However, my expectations nd what I got were very different, not in a bad way, just different. Things don't function as efficiently in the rain so either don't go during the rainy season or hope it doesn't rain while you are there. It's a great city though. The people are really friendly and everyone knows each other which gives it a really homey feel. The history was also super cool to learn about. The sunsets were definitely the best I have seen in the world and white sandy beaches were up there as well (although, Diani in Kenya, still have my favourite beaches). Snorkelling was amazing and even had the unexpected chance of swimming with Dolphins. My suggestion would be to fly directly to Zanzibar. The ferry from Dar es Salaam was really long and as far as I am concerned, you're not missing much by not going to Dar es Salaam first.
I fell in love with this place! The people, the charm of the old buildings, the food, the ocean. It's an amazing place to visit. Just beware of the local street peddlers trying to sell you things. Some can be aggressive. All in all, I look forward yo visiting again! Try staying at the Doubletree or Zanzibar Serena. For indian-inspired cuisine and fresh cocktails, try The Silk Route. You'll be glad you did!
The village is small and the people welcoming. Though there are very few amenities (basic store, small post office, basic bakery, restaurants) it has everything you need for a stay on the beach. The beach is lovely and less occupied then other areas of Zanzibar. Perfect place to chill, but don’t expect much nightlife/activity in the village itself. You can arrange dive trips/island tours/dolphin watching in town or with hotels
I really enjoyed my stay. Zanzest was wonderfully relaxing inexpensive and the staff were super helpful. It is quite a distance away from the center of Zanzibar and of everything taxis were the most expensive part of the trip. Did a lot of sight seeing, swimming, drinking beer shandy and generally catching a great tan!
Beautiful tides and beaches. Must see location in Zanzibar. Unfortunately there is a huge difference between the real life outside vs what they offer in hotels. Common problem in Africa... still amazing local people!
The city exudes charm filled with centurie old buildings boasting Arabian architecture, as well as eastern influences entwined with African culture. People are friendly but at times can be overwhelming with so many offerings of tours. Zanzibar offers the most amazing beaches you will ever come across. The Safari Blu is a must on the tour list. Make sure you bargain before you do any shopping prices are always hiked up especially if you are a tourist.
Its lovely and quiet. You get a glimpse of the community, and it’s less expensive than up North. We lazed at the beach. Drank cocktails, ate prawns. Kite surfing is a big sport in this part of Zanzibar. Jambiani is just an hr drive from the airport. There isn’t much actuvity for kids to do in this part that is why we had a daytrip to Kendwa
Zanzibar City is a natural choice as either a destination or a stop on the way to one of the beach areas. It is full of history, plenty of lodging choices and lots of friendly waterfront or water-view bars and restaurants. We had only one full day in the city, and it was not enough for a good orientation. Two to three would have been much better. We took the halfday Stone Town walking tour and found it extremely informative and a good overview. It was arranged through our hotel (Al-Minar). We also took an short spice tour arranged by our hotel and wished we had done some research to choose one more to our liking or skipped it altogether. The tour we were on (perhaps all of them?) went to a sort of demonstration plantation, where we did get to see lots of our kitchen spices as nature supplies them. This is interesting. However, our tour included no history of the industry, no exposure to the processes of spice production (such as drying) or anything other than the plants themselves. Along the tour were many entrepreneurs, selling or offering products (oils, fruit) or demonstrations (shimmying up a coconut tree), for tips. We would have preferred something more informative and less commercial. Again, though, this is likely a function of the tour operator or even the individual guide. Because we were on a timetable, our tour was private ($40), including transportation and a local guide at the plantation. There are organized tours that last all day and include additional activities, which might have been more interesting. Overall, though, a worthwhile stop en route to the beach.
I read that Nungwi has more nightlife than other areas in Zanzibar, but it was still pretty lacking. There are several beachside bars, but it's definitely not a party place... Which was just fine for us. Nungwui has fine, white sand with clear turquoise water. Perfect beach and one of my favorites!
Zanzibar is a beautiful set of islands. Stone Town (in Zanzibar City) is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with plenty of beautiful sites to visit. Other islands with beautiful beaches, snorkelling, giant tortoises and peacocks are a short boat ride away. On the culinary side, plenty of seafood and spices are available. I stayed in Stone Town (expect for a short trip to Prison Island), where all is in a walkable distance.
I had a wonderful stay at Dragonfly Hotel. The price is very affordable, making it great value for money. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, especially considering the price. The location is excellent, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. While there’s no gym, the overall experience and hospitality more than make up for it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to budget-conscious travelers looking for a clean, friendly, and conveniently located place to stay in Zanzibar!
Nungwi
My favorite hostel in Zanzibar, I had a great time staying here in Compass Hostel. The location is great, only 2 minutes walk to the beautiful beach. The Host and Staffs are all nice and friendly. Also nice breakfast. This place is nice and beautiful. The room and public space are well furnished, all facilities are available and new. Good air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and hot water. There are also large public space for working, TV, video game, and card game. I will definitely come back to this place when visiting Nungwi next time.
I spent a night at Shaba Boutique Hotel before flying out of Zanzibar and it was perfect. I was able to check in a bit earlier and the room was stunning, the bed and all the decor felt true to Stone Town and the staff were so friendly and helpful in arranging transport to the airport as well. The breakfast was excellent in the morning. Location was great, during the night it can be intimidating walking the streets but it really isn't too far from the typical tourist spots. I would stay again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend.
We recently stayed at Alma Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar and had an outstanding experience overall. The service was top-notch—especially the garsons, who were super friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The restaurant was amazing, offering a delightful array of seafood dishes. We would like to underline chef Ahmed. The manager was also highly attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that guests felt welcome. The rooms were cleaned up on time every day, which made our stay even more comfortable.
Our Zanzibar getaway at The Loop Hotel was simply wonderful. The staff's kindness and the immaculate room were outstanding. The local-inspired decor added a lovely touch. Breakfast, with those irresistible donuts, was a highlight - big thanks to the chefs! Special shout-out to the welcoming staff and reception team for making our stay memorable. The pool area was a true oasis. Highly recommended for an exceptional retreat. Can't wait for our next visit! Warm regards,
I had an amazing experience at Warere Hotel! I was impressed by how clean and comfortable the room is. It truly felt like a home away from home. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. The view from the room was breathtaking . the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional, always going above and beyond to ensure my comfort. I highly recommend Warere Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay in Zanzibar. I'll definitely be back!
I had a wonderful stay at Firefly Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar! This charming hideaway perfectly blends comfort, style, and a relaxed island vibe. The rooms are beautifully designed with a mix of modern amenities and local touches, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The lush garden and pool area offer a serene escape, while the on-site restaurant serves delicious, fresh cuisine. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure every moment was enjoyable.
We had a pleasant time at The Garten Living Hotel, we enjoyed their outstanding service, comfortable beds, and their location is just 6 min away to the beach and in the middle of paje, easy access to everything, very safe at night as they have full night security which it makes you feel safe and Home. Their food menu was really delicious comparing to all around restaurants in Zanzibar, Don't forget to try their Frozen mango passion drink, and the Classic Burger.
Great historic hotel for a stay in Stonetown. The location is just downtown close to everything. They have two pools and sunbeams on the beach but if you want a beach holiday on Zanzibar I would look for a quiet place. The hotel is more for visiting Stonetown. Their breakfast was super nice with a wide variety. We also liked our room it took us back in time. The hotel was pretty busy when we were there but the is just how Stonetown is. I highly recommend the Hotel.
Zanzibar City
The tembo b&b apartments was atmospheric blend of historic elegance and historic comforts, with many guests reveling in the hotel's prime location that simplifies sightseeing in Zanzibar . near the ocean front hotel with wonderful views, a roof terrace and a lush back garden. All amenities at disposal. Spacious common room. come and stay, enjoy the charm of the Tembo House Hotel here in Zanzibar town and right on the beach. It's paradise in heaven!
Staying at Z-Breeze Hotel in Zanzibar was an absolute pleasure. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was incredibly relaxing, and the rooms were tastefully decorated, capturing the island's charm. The food was fantastic, with tropical breakfasts that started our days perfectly. The staff were always ready to help, friendly, and genuinely made us feel at home. It's the kind of place where you can truly unwind and enjoy the laid-back vibes.
Beautiful finish in the rooms, brand new and very high quality interior and very spacious and immaculately clean in the quadruple room. Great breakfast. 10 minute walk to Royal Beach (most beautiful beach in Zanzibar). Hotel manager Kinyuu is an excellent host and kindly drove me to Kendwa after my stay. Eva and Heaven made beautifully prepared and delicious breakfast. Roof top breakfast sea views and sky views were very special. Pool very beautiful.
Kizimkazi
Hotel is beautiful and very green, feels like jungle. We came to Zanzibar for honeymoon and this was our first stop in Tanzania. They upgraded our villa to Jungle villa and it was a nice gesture from hotel. Except reception area, staff in the beach bar, restaurant, housekeeping, bar in lobby are nice, helpful and doing their best. Also in the evening there is acrobatic and music entertainment, they are the only nice thing to do in the evening.
Thank you for making our first stay in zanzibar memorable. Hotel arranged pick up for me and kept me updated all the way, driver was patient by wating for us , the manager is a gem checked if we ok. We were served drinks at 2am till 4am with no issues. Definately go to hotel when you land in zanzibar if you looking for a chilled homely stay with Good vibes and great people. My quality is about how well people treat me and that is value for money.
Bamboo Design Hotel is the place to stay if you are looking for peaceful and relaxing time. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, with a design that embodies modern looking, but keeps a touch of Zanzibar style, the views from the pool and restaurant are breathtaking, the staff is very nice, ready to help and they make you feel spoiled, and there is THE FOOD, which was the most delicious, from snacks, to breakfast, lunch and dinner - TASTY!
We loved our stay! Location was perfect and we even got upgraded to a sea view room which was beautiful, they provide beach beds which was also a plus. Rooms are really comfortable, clean and beds are good. Hotel manager Ismael answered to all our questions and handled everything we asked for. We also really enjoyed the breakfast with views and also the dinner options. We'll definitely stay here again when in Zanzibar, Asante Sana!
Our stay at Equalia Rose Hotel in Jambiani, Zanzibar, was a mix of highs and lows. The beachfront location was amazing, with a room offering stunning views just steps from the beach. However, frequent power outages affected our stay, leading to poor Wi-Fi and an inconsistent water boiler. Despite these issues, the friendly staff did everything they could to help. The breakfast, while decent, lacked variety and was the same each day.
Nungwi
Binta Hotel Boutique in Zanzibar offered a fantastic stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, even allowing a free late checkout and late breakfast. You can enjoy drinks from the bar and relax by the pool or on the upstairs terrace. The owner was also very accommodating, helping with everything we needed, including airport transfers. The hotel’s cozy atmosphere made it a perfect place to unwind. Highly recommended!
Mahali Hotel in Zanzibar provided an extraordinary experience in every aspect that mattered. The service was the epitome of hospitality - attentive, warm, and personalized. The venue itself was stunning, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that made every moment tranquil and memorable. The facilities were top-notch, offering a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
Jambiani
We loved everything! The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely stay in the La Luna Apartments. We enjoyed the air conditioning, it is a must-have in zanzibar. The property has two swimming pools and a pool bar which was very nice. The restaurant has the best food! We also enjoyed the Swahili night, it was very fun and it was great trying a variety of swahili dishes. Will definitely recommend!
