View from the grounds of the resort were exceptional. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. I would suggest paying less for the room (example, book the cheaper rooms) since once you are outside, there are a ton of seating areas where you can enjoy amazing views. No need to pay for the high end rooms since for us, we didn’t sit on our balcony anyway. The views elsewhere at the resort were far better. We saw a ton of whales passing through as we sat outside on the benches on the left of the resort and also from the high chairs at the bar area during breakfast.

Stunning location, and a historic feel. Staying on the Queen Mary has all the benefits of being in the downtown location with the added benefit of feeling apart from the business. The WaterBus is reasonable, but runs at odd hours so we took a short taxi ride downtown which was only about $10 each way. There is a coffee shop onboard that has historic art and a lot of exhibits to look at.

Los Angeles

The city has everything I including those from every other city who found and exercised the reason everyone comes here, homeless or not, the beautiful weather.. Los Angeles and Hollywood are the melting pot of the world based on weather and populous because the weather here guarantees you 11 months of NO wetness, rain or snow, and the populous allows for more goods and services to sell to! It's a common sense lost on government officials when it comes to allocating funds properly as 10% of every states supposed populous actually lives here!!!

San Diego

This was my first trip to San Diego and I now know the allure of "So-Cal!" Who doesn't like mild weather, nice beaches, palm trees, and pretty flowers? There are so many fun things to do in and near San Diego. When we arrived we went to the Hotel Del Coronado and strolled along the beach there and then had lunch on a nice patio in town. We stayed up in Cardiff by the Sea for a few nights, which was an easy drive from San Diego. We enjoyed visiting Balboa Park; La Jolla; Carlsbad; Rosecrans National Cemetary and Sunset Cliffs. So many things we need to return for!

Monterey

I love Monterey!! We go there every year. I love the walk/bike paths, the restaurants, the ocean!!!!! It's a beautiful place to visit. Also, we love to drive to Carmel and we always have dinner at Grasing's (for special occasions). We also eat at Montrio Restaurant (which is not far from the hotel that I stayed at). I love going to the Monterey Aquarium. It's one of the best in the world. I've a spa treatment at the Portola Hotel and Spa (is was very nice). It's a great place for families and solo travelers. We always drive...it's about a 2 hours drive from San Francisco. I think you would need a car to get around to the sights..like the 17 mile drive, Carmel Valley..etc.

Santa Barbara

Took the train up there and was pleased that our hotel was very close to the train station and the bonus was it was very close tot he beach. Was only there one night but would have liked to stay longer to explore wineries and restaurants but didn't have time. It looked like a fun town with lots of restaurants, etc. would have liked to rent bikes to ride around the town more and explore.

Santa Cruz is a beautiful area. The walk along the cliffs is worth the trip. Dinner on the wharf is a must when we visit. We were born in Santa Cruz and come back every few years. The beach the cliffs the wharf it’s awesome. The only downside is the traffic. But after leaving Santa Cruz 60 years ago it growing so much is expected.

Sacramento

for being a larger city it was very clean, I felt safe the whole time with lots of police and security patrolling. We explored midtown, downtown and old town and never ran out of things to do or see. It was big city vibes without being as spread out as Los Angeles. We ate at great restaurants like The Porch and had great entertainment at the Guild theater in oak park. We also enjoyed a very affordable horse and buggy ride through old town.

Bakersfield

Bakersfield has the best weather during late winter/ early spring. I would advise people to avoid the winter and autumn months as it is regularly triple heat for days in a row. Traffic is around 3-6pm. There is construction around the freeway so be aware of that. Lake Isabella, Lake Ming, Hart Park offer park/ recreation activities. The Padre Hotel is considered one of the more historical places in town that is supposedly hungry. Deward's Ice Cream is a top recommendation as well as Frugatti's.
